I'm making noodle necklaces with my Pre-K this week, and want to "color" the noodles prior to the activity. I've done this before...but left my directions at school. Does anyone know how to do this???? (I think you mix the food coloring and noodles in a ziplock bag...but do you add vinegar? Something like that! Help!!

I mixed them in a bag with food coloring and rubbing alcohol ~ it gave me a headache, but it worked! LOL! :)

Rubbing alcohol is what I use. Dries fast.

I just colored rice last week for my rice table. The dcks just love it! The colors just aren't as bright as the noodles get.

How much food coloring, rubbing alcohol and noodles/rice do you use?

I haven't done it for a long time - here's a link:

I just "guesstimate" the amounts. I put the noodles in the bag..pour in a bit (not too much) rubbing alcohol, and as many drops of food coloring as I think I need. Seal the bag...shake to mix...and then I spread them out onto waxed paper to dry.

When colouring the rice/pasta for sensory tables at our Nursery School I pour it in a large container with a sealabe lid and just add about 1/2 tsp. (depending on the amount of rice/pasta you are colouring) and shake it. We use to add the rubbing alchohol, but heard of a child getting sick after sneak noodles from a pasta play table into her mouth. It takes a little longer to dry, but still dries fairly quickly.

I was wondering about that. I do like the colored rice Idea though for the sensory table. I'll have to do that.
