Dd will be turning 7 towards the end of the month and wants a sleepover party. Dh is going to pitch a 4 man tent inside our living room and making it a "camp out" party. I need ideas of things to do during the course of the night-these girls go through activities and or crafts pretty quickly.

So far I have:
making s'mores out on the grill
drive-in movie on our back deck
maybe detecting the constellations if it isn't cloudy out.

Any other ideas? If they aren't kept busy, then I'm afraid they will start their bickering and siding against each other. LOL

At the sleepover I had for my 7 year old I had the girls each bring a plain white pillow case. I supplied them with lots of bright colored fabric paints. They drew on their own and then passed them around so the others could write something nice about them. They came out great! I also asked the girls to bring some photos and gave them some of my scrap book supplies. As a snack they made ice cream sundaes with all different toppings. They had a blast. Also I gave them a disposable camera so they could take pictures.
Hope this helps. Have fun!

Seems like Family Fun had an idea for decorating flashlights... decorate a paper lunch sack w/eyes, feathers, pipecleaners, etc. to make a critter of some sort and then attach to the end of the flashlight (wrap rubber bands to secure, I imagine) then when you turn it on.... viola! I searched the website but cannot for the life of me find it! :{
If you had a poloroid camera - take pics of them at the party and then use craft foam to make some cute frames.... shapes of tents, etc. I've also seen the foam that looks like a woodgrain - that would be cute.

I did find this game....

Night Tag:
Number of participants: Four or more Length of time: As long as the children are interested
What players will need: Darkness, a flashlight, a backyard or other safe, enclosed space
Rules of the Game:
Flashlight Tag is a nighttime version of the classic . In this version, players spread out and try to hide from one person designated It, just as in the classic game. And, just as in Tag, when It touches or catches a player, that person becomes It. The only difference is that in Flashlight Tag, It doesn't do his tagging with his hands. He does it with a flashlight. When the light shines
on a participant, he's It.

Oh oh oh! :) We did this game @ dd's party..... blindfold the girls, have them sit facing each other and hold a bowl of mini marshmallows. They must feed each other from the other one's bowl - it was hysterical! They were putting marshmallows everywhere.... ears, noses :biglaugh: sometimes they got them in the mouths!!

This is a game they do @ girl scouts.... pack two duffel bags w/clothes, shoes, etc. It's a relay ---- have two girls at a time run to the end of the room, dress in everything in one bag, run back to the other end of the room, undress and PACK the duffel bag then it's the next girl's turn. We haven't done it, but it does sound fun! (I guess the 2nd girls would have to pick up and carry the packed bag to the end ot the room and dress....)

Thanks Lauriel and Jennifer!

I have a ton of fabric paints and love your idea, but I think I'll subsitute pillow cases for t-shirts and call it the goodie bag! LOL

Jen, I just started subscribing to family fun mag too and saw the flashlight tag. We have a huge greenway in our neighborhood and thought of that too. I like the hide and seek one-using the flashlight. There will be four girls including dd-so that might be fun if they don't work themselves into a frenzy of shrieks because its "dark" outside. LOL

Are fireflies still out? (I don't pay attention) :)
You could make bug-catchers (dd did it in Bible school) out of peanut butter jars. Just wash well, poke holes in top, add a handle out of a pipe cleaner and add buggy stickers...... just another idea.

I did that duffle bag game at MY birthday parties!!! LOL It's tons of fun.

Why not let the girls do dress up, with makeup, hair, nails ect and then have them put on a show or let them karioki.

my daughter's kindergarten did a unit on the outdoors and ended it with "camp lotta fun" one of the best parts was the teachers doing story time, in a darkened room around a "fire" made of logs and red/orange/ yellow tissue paper. They did some magic tricks, some scary stories, and fun stuff like 'going on a bear hunt' and some songs....good luck. you can always check out www.birthdaypartyideas.com for great ideas!

I wouldnt let anyone into my home at all no adults or kids of theirs at all at anytime during this message. Id find a church having a camp party, or go to their home either. Id find a neutral zone to go to. Boy Scouts have camp out parties, roller rinks sometimes have them, think you know people. Federal Parks, state parks have campgrounds have fun stuff to do and Id pay for the campsites bring a BTU air conditioner Im serious. Frontierland here is marvelous campouts!!!!. They have fireworks every night!!! They have a lot.
