ok, I schedualed a pick up from local Salvation Army for Thrusday...I had two giant Trash bags and one small box of toys to get rid of...the kids rooms are still full of things to play with ;)

But now Christmas :tree: will be coming right around the corner.....and I don't know what to do....I am thinking of theming out the holiday...dress up clothes for dd and games for ds's Xbox...telling the grandparents and relatives that ask these things...is that rude? I feel bad, but when I went through the kids stuff....alot of the stuff I got rid of...I don't think they ever really played it....gifts from well meaning grandparents and Aunties and Uncles...

Ok, so have you ever done a theme or stratigically shopped for Christmas? and if so how did it work for you? And is it rude to tell people exactly what to purchase? how about a online wish list?

thanks

Haven't ever done a theme Christmas. We do tell the grandparents what to give...a couple of suggestions. They have learned to listen to us! LOL I don't decide what my kids will want, I see what they have on their lists, but they know they only get 3 gifts. We do get them something out of the ordinary or unexpected as the gift from us, and it's usually a joint gift for both..this year it's going to be a ping pong table.

We've never done a theme either. Grandparents ask for lists from us and tend to stick to them. Although my mil always goes out on her own.

Dh's parents just send money now. My folks usually ask for suggestions. Lately, for birthday's anyway, my mom has gotten my older boys gift cards so they can pick out what they want themselves.

Hello. I never had a theme Christmas but that sounds cool. I might have to try that sometime.
What I usually do is have my 2 kids each make out their "wish list"and then in casual conversation with the grandparents, I'll say that they made out their list of what they want for Christmas. Then I show them the list. Most of the time we have got lucky and they have taken from the list.I always include clothing size on their also. This has worked for us most of the time.I thought I would passs it on.It's kinda a sneaky way to let them know without being pushy;) Good luck!
