I'm doing goody bags for dd's Halloween party at school and thought I'd share some of my ideas... since they'll get candy trick-or-treating, I like to do crafty things...
I made gel candles (dyed green) with wax eyeballs (eyeballs from Wal-Mart, gel candle stuff from Hobby Lobby... very easy to make!
Craft foam BOO kmarks! I traced Halloween shapes, cut them out of craft foam, then cut a long piece and glued the shapes on top, then wrote BOO kmark! with a paint pen.
Pipe cleaner picture frames - I made 4 devil shapes and 4 ghost shapes, then attached a note saying to glue a facial picture to the pipe cleaner and stick on the magnet I provided.
Spider magnets - colored a large and small circle-shaped woodsie black, glued them together to make the body, used two dots of orange paint for they eyes and black and orange pipe cleaners for the body, then stuck a magnet on back.
Caramel apple cookies - dye sugar cookie dough red (reserve a small amount and dye green). Roll out the red dough and cut into apple shapes, roll out green and cut into leaf shapes. Place on cookie sheet on top of a craft stick and bake per dough directions. Allow to cool then dip into melted caramel.
I also bought some halloween chocolate molds and will add a few of those to the goody bags!

I love :* Halloween!

I like Halloween too. We don't do much any more at school. Alot of parents complained. I stick with pumpkins and Scarecrows for decoration. No more Halloween Carnival - it's now earlier and is a Fall Carnival. I saw a cute sign the other day at Cracker Barrel that said, "The witch is in - and she's casting spells". I soooo wanted it for my door, but didn't get it.

How cute, Kat! Too bad you didn't get it. I don't get what all of the hullabaloo is about regarding Halloween. I know everyone has his or her own beliefs, but it's harmless... oh well!

Mary... chalk it up to being laid up for 6 weeks!!!! Now, if I could just get 6 more weeks off before Christmas....

I just have one warning sort of.... I had got many email a while back about the dangers of Gel candles. Apparently they can explode and burn you serverly. I don't think I still have the info but if I come across it I'll let ya know the details.

Thanks for the warning. I found a wonderful website that provides all the safety precautions needed to make gel candles. They detail everything!

Marla - LOL funny you said that 'cause I'm making her teacher a little photo album titled Ms. Fran's Boo-ies and Ghouls! I'm going to take individual pictures of each child in his/her costume so Ms. Fran can put them in the album!

Karla and Renee - thanks! :D

Glad to hear it!!!!!

I got so nerveous when I first heard about the candles exploding that I stopped burning all candles for the longest time. I still don't burn them as much as I used to. Guess I'm just paranoid...LOL. Maybe I should start so I get over this phobia...LOL

I love the ideas of the eye balls thoughh...they must look cute!

One Halloween, I love candles by the way, everywhere every holiday just for fun incredible, but I was watching a family video tape at Halloween, they lit candles on their driveway for trick or treaters and this little girl walked up in the driveway and proceeded to the front door of the neighbors house, she had on a Cinderella costume with a long train, the train got caught in the candles and caught on fire and she burned, her parents couldnt help her her neighbors either the costume burned quickly the little girl was 5 she didnt make it. And I love candles never even thought anyone would do this it would happen. Im trying your idea locking the door when I light them. For your own safety.

Check out this site http://www.gelcandlemaking.com/
hopefully it'll help you get over your fear. I'm very careful about lighting them and never leave them lit around dd.... too easy for something bad to happen...
hope you start enjoying candles again, Vea! Can't imagine life w/o candles! LOL
