I had a teacher conference with ds's teacher this morning. We were 15 minutes into the conference and she was telling me all about the work he was doing and the curricullum for the rest of the year. And I stopped and asked her how his behavior was in class. She looked at me funny and said he was very polite and curtiuos to the kids and very respectful of her. Why? And I told her how horrible the 1st and 2nd grade was for him and how we had to have him tested for ADD because the teachers insisted that he need medication and we kept telling them no he is bored till we finally had the CORE eval done last year to show he really was bored in class and very underchallenged. Testing didn't change the fact that they still didn't challenge him.
His new teacher (Mrs. S)said she did talk to his 2nd grade teacher (Mrs. B.) last week and she had asked how ds was doing in class. Mrs. S. said he was doing wonderfully, Mrs. B. asked if he was on Medication this year. Mrs. S told her no.
Mrs. S. just knows how to challenge him and won't let any of the kids get away with doing less than they are capable of.
I am so happy for ds that he is having a great year with a great teacher and he has her for 3rd and 4th grade.
