Ever since dh and I have been married, we have always lived on an acre or more of land-except for Pueblo-we only have .29 acres and we HATE it! I seriously don't think I could live on anything less than .50 acres when I find a permanent house.

How many acres (or lack there of) do you live on and do you think its enough for all the things you like to do outside?

Our home is on a lot that is right at an acre. We originally owned a 2 acre piece of land and sold it. This lot is plenty big enough - too big when you have to mow. We just this summer built a seperate 2-car garage for the boat and ds's future car. Room for a good sized garden, plan to put in a pool at some point and still will have plenty of mowing left to do. All our neighbors have lots that are just either side of an acre and I don't feel too close.

.29 seems like a tight fit. Military housing?

Amy and I had this conversation before. I live in the city, we have subdivision lots..don't know how it translates into acreage! LOL My lot is 9,204 sq. ft. We have a big enough front yard so we aren't right on the street, have a nice lawn and back yard for a trampoline and swingset and fort...probably will put in a pool later.

Our lot is 3/4 of an acre.

We live in a subdivision, too, but have a large lot being at the end of a cul-de-sac (we have three neighbors across the back and one on either side). While our neighbors are nice enough and quiet (never spoke to one and only spoke once to another), I would really like to have no neighbors or at least have them be further away.

On Long Island there are a Lot of "developments"...which incase you have not heard the word they are neighborhood with basically only one or two types of houses. Every house is on a .25 acre. Upstate they are much bigger!

I don't know anything about acreage- but most military housing is not single family homes with any sort of land. We live in a 4-plex and actually have a nice size yard (for military housing) because we live in one of the end units- but by no means do we have any "land". You could probably measure my yard with a tape measure!

We have a little over an acre.:) I would really like more. Growing up, we had about 3-4 acres of actual yard, and then some not considered yard.

Kat-no, i don't live on military housing. We are renting a house in a development 30 miles south of base. I don't think I could live in another development again.

Ann-btw- I divided it out-you have .21 acres. Where in the heck does your dog have room to pee or poop-especially if you put a pool in?8o LOL

I brought this up because dh bought a really big tent yesterday and we had a camp out in our yard. We were disgusted because between the tree placements, deck and swingset, there was only one spot to set it up. I want a yard that is big enough to play soccer or volleyball on AND big enough for a pool and tent.

I don't know what we had in town, but since we moved we're on 1.25 and I love it!! We have a big garden, flower bed, swing set with fort, fire pit, a pool in the summer, and lots of room left over....and I love mowing it! :D We hope to add a shed or a separate dbl garage in the next few yrs. All of our neighbors have around the same yard size as us and with only 15 of us out here it feels very private and secluded. :*

I have no clue how big ours is but it's not big at all... Our entire back yard consists of a pool (not that big either) a deck and a little walkway fountain/garden... sitting area. VERY cozy. LOL We've probably got more side yard than front... but still not very big. If the house wasn't so big I'm sure the yard would look bigger, but were happy with it the way it is. Some day were hoping to move into something a little bit more private out in the country, but until we marry off dd #2 and #1 or they move out, whichever comes first... we'll probably be staying put. :)

we had 25 acres in CNY....... the five acres I mowed were cool...we could and did have baseball games on it.....it was great for flying kites too....

now in the suburbs....probably not much land at all....which is fine with me right now.....we have a patch of grass in the front yard and a nice patio with grass in the back...but its tiny...

its good you know what you want in a yard...:)

We have an acre but we abut an electrical easement (sp?) so nothing can be built behind us.
