Good Morning!
Another rough night for dd, coughing a lot, although slowly but surely she is improving. This is her 6th day of missed school, this from a child who missed 1/2 a day last year!! Believe me when I say the novelty of being home has worn off, for both of us!!
Dh comes home today, he's been away, and Survivor is on, yippee!
Visitation starts for our friend today, the funeral is Saturday morning. Her 7 yr old ds is going to read a poem. Don't know how many people will be able to handle that one, he's just too sweet :(
Do you always go to visitation or just the funeral? I have a very, very hard time with visitation, especially open casket.:(

Hello Kathy. I am sorry to hear about your dd being sick. I know the feeling. Mine was out for almost 2 1/2 weeks straight. I am also sorry to hear about your friend. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. As far as the funerals and visitations that I go to, it just depends on who it is. If it is family or a close friend, I go to both. If you are uncomfortable with the visitation, just go to the funeral. Send a nice flower arrangement for the visitation letting the family know you are thinking of them. That would be my advice for you. Good luck with everything.
Morning. Slept lousy last night so I made dh get up with the kids and I slept till 8:30. Not much on today, just the usual junk.
Kathy, it really depends. If she had cancer they may not have it open, but you don't have to go look. I would check on what the instructions were about flowers before you send any..alot of people don't want the money wasted on them.
Oh Kathy, sorry your having such a rough week....I agree with Ann about the flowers...and you don't have to look.
feel really lousy this morning...PMS and tired....getting ds off to school and then dd...hit the tredmill...and get off to work...:)
took my dog Max to the groomers yesterday...he looks and smells wonderful....it was worth it.... :doggie:
(((Kathy))) My thoughts are with you today.
I'm tired today. :\ I was up until 11:00 with a dck and then back up before 5:30 when dh's alarm went off. I only have one regular dkc today. So it will be relaxing. I do have my friend's 4 dck's for her while she goes to the dr for her follow up appt this morning.
I'm looking forward to a relaxing evening watching tv and doing nothing.

Hi everyone...I'm back. Had a great time in Seattle, although it was very tiring. The weather was beautiful for the wedding, and the boat sailed for the entire time!
Catching up at home today as youngest ds is sick. He has a fever  and a sore throat, stuffy nose etc.
(((((Kathy))))) , sorry to hear you are having such a rough week.

Glad that you are back Marla and that you had a good time! Maybe your ds is sick because he was missing his mom!? I hope he's feeling better soon.
Kathy, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend's family today. As for visitation and funeral, etc., if I know the person really well, I go to both...if I don't know them very well but want to pay my respects, I just go to the visitation...if it's a family member that I don't know very well (distant cousin or aunt/uncle, etc.), I just go to the funeral. Like Ann and others said, you don't have to look.
Have an ortho appointment today, I believe he'll just check to see how my bottom retainer is fitting. Goal planning meeting with ds's teacher at 7:20 and then home to watch Survivor.
Beautiful sunny day here. I've been decorating for fall a bit, so the house looks great, but we lost our grass this summer (watering ban and it just never came back), both front and back. Sure hope it comes back over the winter...our house really stands out now with all the brown grass :(

Marla welcome back! Sorry to hear about your ds.
You guys are great, thank you so much again for the kind thoughts and the support and advice. Still haven't decided on the visitation. She comes from a HUGE family and they are almost all here, so I think it will be very crowded. I will check about the flowers. We plan on making a donation to the oncology ward at the hospital in her name.
Thanks again :)

Both dks have school today. I am going to Target and Old Navy during my free time. :) Looking forward to tv tonight - I am so exciting, huh?
{{{Kathy}}} - Like others said if I am close to the person, I go to both. I sometimes feel like it helps me to be there and have that time to talk to others - share happy memories, etc - but it is different for everyone and you have to do what feels best for you. Maybe you could go and then try to help out with the dks?? Thinking of you!!
Marla - Welcome back!! Hope your ds is feeling better soon!! :)

Hi all. Just catching up around here...finally an evening at home! Caught Survivor and am now off to watch ER.
((((Kathy)))) I am so sorry to hear of your friends death. Sometimes a familiar face for the kids would be a help at the visitation. Are the kids close to her family or will it be a bunch of strange faces for the kids?
Welcome Back Marla! Glad you had a good time. Hope ds is feeling better soon.

Hi All!
Not much went on today...I actually made it to all my classes today ...but had to take lots of pain meds to do it.
I talked to the disabilities services on campus and they are going to contact my professors and ask them to be alittle flexable about absences. I can also set up to take the exams in their office so I can sit confortably on a couch or wherever is most confortable also allowing extended time. So hopefully this will be helpful.
I feel really weird asking for all this help...I've always prided myself on the fact that I'm independant. I almost never ask for help. I almost feel like it's not fair to ask for this help am I being silly? What do you all think?

I don't really know how to answer this. You have never said what your disability is, but you must be in pain since you have referred to taking medicine alot. I guess if you need it, and it's available, take it.

Wow...sorry I thought I've talked about this....I have Cerebal Palsy (mild) ...but over the last few years I've had alot of back spasm problems...the meds are for that!
It's just weird because I've never really had to ask for help it the CP...but now with this whole back thing....I'm gonna have to ask for help.
I guess I'm not really asking you guess for an answer...I guess like I said..I never used services much before....I even pass up handicap parking if theres other spots available. So It feels weird using services now.
I think the services are their for a reason..use them to your benefit.
