I know that we did a post not too long ago on children's names, but I was wondering did anyone have a name picked out for their children that they liked, but then didn't use because they were afraid it would cause problems?

(i.e. The initials were like B.S. or B.J., the first and last name wouldn't have went well together, etc...)

I have been told that I should reconsider the name that dh and I had decided on for when we finally have children because the first and last name of the child would start with the same letter. What does everyone else think of this?

LOL... Yep. I always said that when I had a dd, I'd name her Patricia. (Patty) Of course... at the time I didn't know I was going to marry a guy with the last name that started with a P, and when the time came, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. LOL I still love the name... but personally, I'm glad that we didn't do it. I've heard some first names that start with the same letter as their last name and they actually sound kind of cute... for instance I have a friend who's name is Katie, who married a guy with the last name Koyle. LOL I went to school with a Susie Swanson... and I thnk that's cute. I guess it depends upon how they sound together. Good luck with your decision.

LOL, funny that this be mentioned.. As Dh and I have been throwing around names for DS#3... We had come up with Kameron, but then his intials would be KK, I didnt like that. We could spell it with a C but we wanted something a littel different since DS#1 name starts with a C.

I got to name my ds first name, but my dh was in charge of the middle name, one he wasn't going to tell us until the baby was born. It was his idea to give our ds both grandfathers names but that would be too long so he decided on just initials which are JD. I wasn't too crazy about it at first but it is interesting when people try to guess what the JD stands for.

Yes, I wanted to name a boy Alexander Robert. Alexander because I love the name and Robert after my dad. That would have made DS's initails ARS. DH was stationed in England long enough to find that offensive! I figured no one would pay attention but he was adamant.

And I had Samantha as one of my top picks for a girl. I always loved girls names that shortened to a name like Sami, Alex, or Kat. DH wouldn't even consider that one since one of his co-workers had a daughter named Samantha. Even though the girl was adorable - DH despised the dad. He's a little superstitcious I think. Both parents were really ugly and we always joked around that the ugliest parents had the cutest kids - when they were still little at least! I think he didn't want to jinx our child!

I have a nephew and a niece who's first and last names start with the same letter and they sound cute, so I don't know that I would use that as a basis to rule out a name if you think it sounds cute. :)

Speaking of initials, my moms are KKK and I hate it!! :\

I guess we tried to make sure there wouldn't be any problems with a name, but someone can always find something. My uncle's name is Robert Arthur and of course kids called him "Rawbutt".

My grandfather wanted someone in the family to name a child after him. Sorry, I was not going to name my child Adrath Orville. You wouldn't even have to make changes in that name to get teased.
