I give my nail lady between $3-5 (for a $15-$30 bill) and my hairdresser I usually give around 15%.

I usually tip my hairdresser five dollars. I don't have my nails done, so I don't have to worry about that.

The gal who does my nails/hair owns her own business and works out of her own home... and seeing she doesn't have to share what she makes with anyone else... she won't allow anyone to leave her a tip, and that's okay with me. LOL

The lady that does my color gets a $5.00 tip from me. The owner cuts my hair and doesn't take tips.

The gal that usually does my hair owns the salon and takes tips. ?( Wish she'd say, "Oh, you don't have to do that." :D

The lady I usually have cut my hair "tip"ically gets $6/7 depending on how much is in my wallet and if I am going to the Starbucks nextdoor afterward. :biglaugh: For my nails it depends on how the nails look, if the person was nice, if they were pushy about getting their tip before they finish, if they hurt my cuticles during the manicure (I have terrible cuticles :\ ), etc. I never give them less than 3 though, but I have given as much as $6.

There was one time when I told the nail lady that I prefer to pay and give tip after I was completely finished. She said but you will mess up your nails afterward, you should pay and tip me now. I said well I usually do that after they dry. I am not in a hurry and will do it when it is all completed. She tried getting me to do it before she finished again. I again declined and she sighed and said fine. Then she turned to a coworker who was working on my friend's nails and started speaking in her native language. My friend happened to speak their language because of her boyfriend. My manicurist was saying that she should mess up my nails on purpose and that these snobby "white people" are so ungrateful and never give her enough money to begin with. :{ My friend retorted that after that comment I shouldn't have to give her anything. :thumb: Go, Joy! I talked to the manager of the nail place and paid for my manicure, but the only tip she got was to get some people skills.
