Dd really wants one, and I was wondering if they're worth it. I haven't looked at them yet... going to do my Santa shopping next weekend. I think it'd be a blast (will I ever grow up?!), and since she's too young for an Easy Bake Oven, this might satisfy me, I mean her, until she is old enough!
Just wondered if they're worth the money and if they're fun to play with... uh, for the kids, of course :newwink:

We have one - it's the one that came out last year? I didn't like it at all - we barely used it and I was the one who wanted it. LOL! One turn off for me was that is barely made any and it tasted like plain ol' sugar...suppose that's bcuz what it's made with? Just wasn't like what I expected - you know the flavored pink or blue. :D I see now that they have a new version of it out - maybe check into that one if you really want one. :)

Thanks for the feedback! Your response is exactly what I'm looking for! I'll be sure to check into them thoroughly before I decide to get one... don't want dd to be disappointed with the outcome!
Thanks! :D

We've got one - the Table Top Cotton Candy Maker. It works ok but since it's so veeeerrrry time consuming, generating only a little cotton candy at a time, we rarely use it. And even though it says you can use white extra fine sugar, we haven't had any luck with that.

Unless this is something SHE really, really wants, I wouldn't spend the money. Even then I'd still hesitate.

What's her age again? DD started with her Easy Bake at 4 or 5. I would handle the pans though.

Thanks for the info! Very good to know! Sounds like I'll try to divert her to something else! She's 4... I was thinking the Easy Bake started around age 8.... but, she does help me in the kitchen now.. I could handle the "hot out of the oven" part
I doubt she'd even miss the cc machine! Thanks again!

LOL Karla!

We have one. We seldom use it but when we do its fun. I use plain sugar or plain colored sugar run through a blender. Think we have the roseart one which may have been recalled. I need to check that out.

Thanks for the info! I need to do some research via the 'puter to see what I can find out!

Okay, went Santa shopping yesterday and completely scrapped the cotton candy maker idea... ended up getting a gummy candy maker and some refills... dd is going to love it (and it doesn't hurt that I'm pretty stoked about it, too!). It looks really fun and it makes different shapes, flavors and colors! woo hoo! can't wait!

Jeff - I saw the Rose Art cotton candy maker, so that probably means it wasn't the one that was recalled... let's hope not, anyway!!

From the Consumer Product Safety Commission:

Cotton Candy Machine (188,000) distributed by Rose Art Industries. The electric motor on the cotton candy machine can jam and overheat, posing a fire hazard. The heating unit can be activated without the spinner in place, presenting a risk of burn to consumers. CPSC and Rose Art have received 225 reports of the machines overheating. There have been three reports of fire, one resulting in an estimated $2,000 in property damage. CPSC received a report of two unconfirmed minor injuries. Call Rose Art at (888) 262-4474 for a free replacement motor unit.
