my son is coming home for a visit

My son is coming home to visit, he lives in Orlando, Florida. I can't wait he comes home Thursday. I am also going to be a grandma for the first time in January, I am so excited. If anyone has any ideas about being a grandma long distance please share them with me?

I am not a grandma, but my kids have gparents out of town. It's difficult when they are babies since they really won't know any different, but as they get older you can send little care packages, maybe send a book and a tape of you reading it to them?..... Have fun with your son and congrats on getting to be a grandma soon!

Congratulations. I don't know of any of us who are grandparents yet. I'm not quite ready yet, though at 22 I wish oldest ds would at least settle down with a steady girl.

All of my kids grandparents live in a different state than we do. As babies there wasn't really much that they could do, but I know I sure took a lot of pictures and video to sent to them. Now that they are older and know their grandparents, they talk to them on the phone and they sent them little care packages to let them know they are thinking of them.

Congratulations on being a soon-to-be grandma!! My grandparents lived in a different state from me for all of my life. My grandmother would always send little things, a card every once in a while, her peanut butter cookies :licklips:. She sent me her favorite books and once in a while coloring books. I miss all of those things that she use to do for me. Have fun being a grandmother! And I hope you have a wonderful visit with your son!

Just to let everyone know my son got in Thursday, his plane was a half hour late, he said they took off late from Orlando, Florida. I just seen him over labor day but it seems like along time ago. We have always been close, especially since he was my first child at 18. He is so dark from they Florida sun, LOL. Well all for now we are going shopping to buy him something for his birthday since he turned "22" yesterday. I just thought of something I am getting OLD.........LOL 8o
