Just had to share this cute little story. Ds's teacher is just fabulous and is often teaching them things "the kindergarten way" (writing their names, sneezing into their arms, etc). Yesterday on the way to school ds was so excited to tell me in the most serious tone that "Susie finally found her kindergarten voice AND now she runs to her bus, so she found her kindergarten legs, too!" I was LOL and just thought it was so cute. Any of you other K teachers teach them things "the kindergarten way"?? ;)
We also were there yesterday for "family" day and it was cute when the teacher said she'd only believe half of what the kids came to school telling her if we'd only believe half of what they came home telling us. ;)

How cute, Karla! Aren't their stories precious?! And I like the "kindergarten way" idea! Dd is still in preschool, so maybe I'll have that to look forward to! Right now, all the teachers keep a book of funny things kids say and dd is in the lead with the most entries (the latest being that she's having hot flashes! Dd wants to be a Nanna when she grows up, so she now repeats everything my mom does and says!!). She's a talker and some of the stuff she comes up with is a riot! I have a book here, too, so I can jot things down to remember them!

Amy - ROFL @ the hot flashes!! I needed that laugh! I'm thinking you should start posting her funny comments here on a daily basis!! :D
It's funny about the girl in ds's class because she is very quiet and as slow as a turtle, so I am sure it has been a huge deal for the teacher that she has caught on to the "kindergarten way".

Yep...the Kindergarten Way is the "best way". LOL We always print our names "The Kindergarten Way" (First letter uppercase/rest lowercase). We always use our "indoor voices", and line up "straight, quiet and tall". LOL It is funny how many "phrases" I use each day. I don't give "time-outs", but I do have a "sit-out". I am always telling kids to criss/cross their legs, and give us a "kindergarten smile". No wonder I drive my family crazy...it's hard to stop talking like that when I'm home. ;)
A cute Kindergarten story from today....
One of my Pre-K kids was absent for the first time today. He was really concerned about this, and told his mom to make sure that she called me and that I knew it was ONLY for ONE day. LOL Anyway, mom leaves me a voice mail message... (which I didn't get until the end of the day (crazy day!!) ). In the message she asks me to "call her ds and talk to him" and she adds, "if you have time". Well...I was kind of busy  teaching and all...but I did have a little note written to him (as I do to any child who is absent). It was the cutest thing! This mom was just sure that I would be able to call, and talk to her ds. Oh, I wish I had that kind of time!!!! Sweet family!!! (First child from family in school...always overly concerned!!) Still makes me smile thinking about it.

Those are all cute stories. Thank you for sharing them everyone.
Oh, Karla, yes the kindergarten way is the only way. Like MaryL said we write the kindergarten way, color the kindergarten way, etc. We sit on the floor criss, cross applesauce. Seems like every thing we do is to a song or rhyme. I have told them however that after Christmas we will be reading like first graders.
MaryL, don't you just love how they so want to be at school every day. Our Thanksgiving program was yesterday and after the program I get back to the room and find one of mine in tears. His mom says she's taking him home because he is sick, but that he just had to come for the play. Bless his heart. He never even hinted to me that he didn't feel well.

I love the stories! I would love to just be a fly in the wall in your classrooms. I was so entertained by those little ones when we were in ds's class yesterday. :) I bet as chaotic and hectic as it can be that it is a lot of fun. You both sound like you enjoy it so much!! :thumb: Lucky kids to have you!! :)
Funny how they are so concerned about missing school - my ds is on break now until Dec 3 and tonight he was telling us how much he is going to miss it....is this MY kid?? ;) And, yesterday I had to pick him up 20 minutes early and he was MAD at me for it!! 8o Love the turn-around he has made!! :yippee:
