after reading Cathy's post about being Thankful....I remember my at my SIL's they passed a candle around the table and said what they are thankful for before dinner is served.....

my favorite tradition for Thanksgiving :chicken: everyone being together, helping with the cooking and just talking and being together....remembering Thanksgivings past and people who are no longer with us.....Thanksgiving to me is FAMILY

Traditionally... everyone trying to get together and having a good time, stuffing our faces and eating pumpkin pie. Something we always looked forward to was my dad's dressing. He'd make it each/every year and it was SO good. :licklips: Of course... we'd all go on and on to dad about how Thanksgiving just wouldn't be the same without his dressing/stuffing... and it really hasn't been, but were trying to make/start a lot of new traditions.

Diane...

Diane, cook up your dad's stuffing and then while you are eating it, toast him and take turns telling funny stories about him.
My mother makes my grandmother's stuffing recipe and we do that every year when we eat it.

Like you've said already just being with family.

The biggest tradition we have (with any get together actually) is playing/doing stuff together like baseball, football, board games, sledding, etc. For a couple years I videoed what we did and then put it to music and gave it to my folks for their Christmas present.

I love to watch the parade too. My gm always having to take group pictures. What kills me though is that she always has to take a picture of the food on the table every year. And every year it's the same. You never know one year from the next.

I would have to say piggin out on desserts even when already full. Oh and talking about how we forgot the dinner rolls...again...LOL we forget them every year.

ROFL about taking a pic of the food on the table - it would never cross my mind to do that. :tinysmile

His recipe was a "secret" that he never shared it with anyone... but I have a feeling that my mom knows exactly what he put in it. I'm kind of hoping that she'll surprise all of us by making/bringing it. It would definitely make us all feel a little closer to him.
