to Pull or let fall out?

ds's first loose tooth is kinda bugging him, should we encourage him to pull it.....EWH not me or wait and let it fall out....YUCK :nervous:

If it's really loose I pull it before they go to bed. I've never heard of a child choling to death on a tooth but it gives me the heebie jeebies to think of it falling out in their sleep! If it's very, very loose you can encourage him to pull it. I generally use a wet paper towel to help grab hold of it.

We always pulled them out... but it depended upon how loose they were in the first place. He may not LET you do it. LOL I remember doing the string and door knob thing... and that never worked. We always ended up running WITH the door. LOL Good luck! I hope it comes out soon! I'll bet he's really anxious/excited for the tooth fairy to visit. :)

Have you tried giving him a whole apple (pear,etc) to eat?? My ds had a very loose top tooth...and didn't want it pulled. I gave him an apple for supper, and the tooth came out with the first bite!!!!! Those first teeth are so tiny...it's hard to get a good grip on them!!:)

My ds is the anxiety king and he would not let us even kid him about pulling his teeth. :nervous: His 1st tooth fell out though when I gave him a cheese stick and he bit right into it and it came right out. The other 3 just hang there until the wind knocks them out. I agree it gives me the willies to see them hanging there or when he decides to show me how loose they are. YUCK!!!

I can't pull it....I will faint...LOL...ds isn't worried about it, I think he is a little squemish too...dh doesn't to touch it either...what a bunch of babies...LOL

When I had a loose tooth in school, we were always sent to the kindergarten teacher. She pulled a many a tooth. I don't know why or what made all the other teachers start sending kids to her, but they did. Come to think of it, I think that she pulled my first tooth. My dad pulled the ones that she didn't. I was too scared to pull my own teeth. I pulled my friends out though.
