View Full Version : Ann, how is your dog?
Do you have an update yet?
Aren't you sweet....the vet thinks she pulled a muscle in her back or hip somehow..gave her a cortisone shot and some anti-inflamatories and put her on bed rest ;) for the week. The mail lady just came and she ran to go "protect the door" and just cried out in pain!!!!!! :(
I was worried about her! Back problems can be scary. It sounds like she's doing okay though. One of our dogs went down like a shot and was never able to get back up again. So I always cringe when I hear of a dog with back probs. Keep us posted on her convalescence! :0)
Thanks! I was really worried about hip dysplasia since she is a lab....I don't know what cause this, but I hope it isn't lasting cause she is just a great dog!
You can have them tested for hip displaysia either after 18 months, or maybe 24 months. The earlier you can catch it the more effective the treatment is. We have a shepherd and hope to test her some time next year. It's expensive (in my book) but worth it in the long run. If they find signs you can start giving glucosamine and other things now before it progresses.
LOL about the bed rest! She sounds as active as our Bella and the only way to keep her down is to sit on her!! :0D
She is 3. The vet said that since she is a mix lab and only about 65 lbs (yea, ONLY..should have seen me trying to lift ONLY 65 lbs into my suburban today!!! LOL) she would probably not be disposed to it...and also it tends to come on gradually and not rapidly like yesterday.
She is starting to perk up some already. :)
