kids sharing a room question

ok, mine boy 7 and my girl 5 have always had thier own rooms.....last week they asked me if they could share a room.....which was fine with me...because then I could use one room for a playroom/Den so we did...oh and I got my dinning room back...:)

because they are a boy and a girl, at what age is this not a good thing? We have talked about when we finally buy something here, that we will probably not be sharing a room then....but this has made them so happy right now....I feel comfortable with it...just wondering what everyone else has done with thier kids sharing. tia

At that age it's probably all right. You may need to (and probably already have) be sure they respect each other's privacy when changing and such.

Because our kids are B,B, G, G, B we haven't had to deal with mixed sharing.

At those ages I don't see where it would be a problem... as long as they respect each other's privacy. I was very lucky to never have that problem... with them all being girls it really never mattered. LOL We usually had enough rooms where they didn't NEED to share, but at one time we let the two youngest ones share a room and unfortunately it didn't last for more than a week. (Oh... the fighting!!!) They did much better in their own rooms. Good luck... I hope it works out well for them both.

If they are happy with it, and you are comfortable with it, then I say let it be. I am sure that when they are tired of sharing or when it becomes uncomfortable for one of them, they will let you know.

Mine are both boys...so the b/g thing isn't an issue. They have their own rooms, but about a year ago (or so) they decided they wanted to sleep in the same room. It works out great for them since they are good buddies, anyway. No fighting at all!!! I'm not sure how long it'll last...but at the present time it's making good use of ds1's bunk beds!!!!

I don't think there is a problem with your ds and dd sharing a room at their ages...I think they'll probably request a change when THEY feel the need.
