View Full Version : My consequences and rewards
Here is the first part of taking accountability for eating healthy. I'll start first.
My consequences are: what will happen if you don't stick to your plan
1. I get my haircut at Fantastic Sam's
2. I will not allow myself to buy new clothes
3. I will always be battling my weight and feeling grumpy about it.
My rewards for hitting certain goals are: mine are every 5 pound increments
lose 5 pounds-get a haircut at a really nice salon.
10lbs-get a professional massage
15 lbs-treat myself to a nice vacation with friends.

That is why you are not losing the weight you want too! LOL You don't hold yourself accountable for NOT losing the weight. If there are no consequences to not losing weight, how do you do it?
I don't live that way. The consequences of me not losing weight is not feeling well, possibly not seeing my kids grow up...that's what motivates me.

Well there you go!!! LOL
What are your rewards for hitting certain goals?
Wearing clothes that don't fit now!

I'm motivating myself with sex with dw. I just haven't told her about it yet!
;)
I think clothes are going to be the biggest motivator for me. I had a ton of size 36 pants that were too long altered this summer. Now they are the right length, but I am the wrong width! LOL
I have now went from a suit environment to a business casual environment and I am so looking forward to slimming into some new clothes. Even some of the clothes I can fit into right now, ie a mock turtleneck, I won't wear with my gut hanging out!
I should probably come up with more rewards, but I have refused to buy any larger pants. Wearing tight pants all day is extremely uncomfortable and a fantastic motivator for me!

I think clothes are a motivator too. I don't like the way that my clothes are fitting me right now :\ . I know that if I lose 5-10 pounds, my clothes will fit much better , and therefore I will be much happier

Yeah I am exercising indoors, not so much b/c of the weather but b/c I am a gym kind of guy. I do so much better when the only motivation I have to have is to get to the gym in the morning. I am pretty terrible at keeping to a workout routine at home. It is far to easy to keep hitting snooze!
If I had a treadmill at home I think that might change, but then I would have to worry about waking up the kids. About the only time I run outdoors is when I do long runs to prepare for the Mini. Speaking of which, are you running this year? I haven't signed up but I plan to.
Running on a treadmill is easier on the joints and you get to watch TV! I do think that running out doors gives you a better overall workout, but for consistency the treadmill is fine with me most of the time, even in the summer months.
How about you?

I like outdoors running better. The cold isn't too bad, but the ice on the ground makes it hard so I hit the gym and do the treadmill. I haven't signed up for the mini but suspect I will. I was on the treadmill last night and got the urge to go longer and harder but am trying to take it slow to avoid injuries. I did do the last 1/5 mile at a 7:30 pace. The rest was at around a 10:00 minute pace. I seem to be getting it back pretty quickly. Started out at the beginning of the year at over a 12 minute pace and struggled to get three miles.
I have a precor 9.4 treadmill that I would probably sell if you are interested. I don't know what the resale market is on it though.
main goal is to feel good about myself.....getting into my skinny clothes again is just a plus....
no reward system right now....doing good things for me regardless.....
Brichard...that was TOO much infor for me....and isn't that how you got little Emilee??????

14 yrs ago dh and I had an agreement that if I was able to lose 15 lbs we would go to DisneyWorld....and we wanted to get pregnant, and I didn't want to start out overweight.
Disney was great and unfortunately after 3 kids the weight and then some is here to stay.
I have clothes in my closet that I would love to wear that would fit better if I lost 5-10 lbs....that doesn't sound like alot, but it has been a struggle for years.

That's funny Darlene, I made a deal w/dh that when I lost 40 lbs. I wanted to go back to Disney - would just feel better about myself and not always be trying to hide my butt behind the character's butts!!! lol I can't believe I've almost reached that goal.
I've hit 30, so only 10 more to go!! Doubt we'll go anytime soon....
my constant reward is weeding out the fat clothes and KNOWING I will NOT wear them ever again.
Consequences - just the disappointment in myself knowing I could have had a better week - but hey ~ sometimes, you just gotta eat that 3rd slice of pizza! :licklips:

Littlesista,
You have made a very strong point. When I lost weight the first time I kept all of my fat clothes and... I slowly worked my way back into them. When I lost weight this last time I threw out the "big big" stuff and I REFUSE to buy any more! This is a very strong contract I have with myself.
What I need to do this next time is to either alter or get rid of all of my size 38 pants. The economic side of you wants to hold onto those clothes, but if you have REALLY made the commitment ot change your life, there is no need to hold onto them.

You know I said that myself and STILL gained the weight back. Still not keeping anything too big though. I will get it right!!
