We have a 21 month old toddler, who isn't always getting into trouble, but when she does, we know she did it for a reason. The question is, what reason? She takes the pacifiers out of her baby brother's mouth and he screams till he gets it back, so we slap her on the hand, let her laugh it out in a one minute time out, and then explain to her why we put her in time out. Then, she's back at it again. I can't get to hurting my toddler any more than I feel comfortable with, my parents were very abusive, and I have no intention of letting my kids be the same way. What do I do?

Ignore it! Its only the first of many battles they will try to get you involved in to get your attention.

That's not uncommon for a 21 month old...I'd just redirect her. Tell her "no"...and move her from the situation (if possible). Give her something else to do!
