I was just wondering...I've been so tired lately and I wonder if there a vitamin that will boost my energy.

I go through this alot especally when my life slows down and yet according to blood test I'm not iron deficient or anything.

Any suggestions?

Vea, I take liquid B12 from GNC (I'm prone to a deficiency since my surgery), but I don't feel energetic as a result. Heard the B12 shots are much better, but they don't last long.

I was thinking about the B-12 and my sister also suggested the shots...she had them for a few months and said it helped. I'll have to ask the doctor next time I go.

I've been using One A Day Active-- it's got 300% of all the B's we typically need, plus everything else. I like the fact that it only has 50% iron, since iron in large quantities can be harmful. Recently, when I ran out, I found One Source Pure Performance on sale for half the price of One A Day, and it has a higher B content.

In addition, I have been making an extra effort to eat lots of vegetables-- I had four servings of vegetables for lunch.

My energy level has gone up considerably-- instead of just walking or plodding along, I am doing this hop/skip thing. Instead of standing still, I have to jump up and down. I have added the hop/skip to my daily walks too. I figure the extra activity will only help increase my metabolism.

Have you talked to your doctor about your fatigue? There may be something else that can cause it, some other tests to find out. As I found out, there is more to a blood test than just iron count-- it turns out you need B12 and Folic Acid to make red blood cells, and when you are deficient your red cells are malformed and can't do their job. In addition, B1 helps to convert carbohydrates into glucose, which is important to energy level. B6 is important to the central nervous system, as is folic acid. Also, it takes about two weeks to make and mature new red blood cells, so give your vitamins at least that long to help you feel better-- it'll really take about a month.

Be sure to eat lots of leafy green vegetables, and whole grain, such as rice. And B12 is only found in meat and other animal products, so if you are vegan you must be very careful. B1 (thiamine) is also found in animal products, particularly pork and chicken, but also in rice.

Good Luck!

Wow. Thanks MK for the info....I have done general blood work and he said it seemed fine...thought it was nothing to worry about. I may bring it up again.

I figured I'll try some vitamins and see what happens... The only thing I take right now is B-6.

Thanks again for info.

Does it happen typically in the winter time? I have heard that many people drag down from a lack of sunlight. For some I have even heard that life pretty much comes to a stand still. There was a guy who during the summer months was the top salesperson at his company and in the winter his sales were the worst. Think he ended up developing a light therapy product and now he's at the top of his game all year.
