Donna-I sure I missed it but I didn't know you had found a house. Last I knew you were in the apt. What is your house like and where is it located? Will the boys have to change schools again or not??

No, the boys will both stay in the same schools - pretty amazing for a town that has a school every 3 blocks LOL! Lets see, it's 2 story, 4 br, 2 1/2 baths, formal dining, office, all 3 boys bedrooms and bath upstairs, sprinkler and security systems (although we're debating who to get security service with - Brinks wants a 3 year contract and dh won't do it). We actually closed on it 2 weeks ago, but had to give the previous owners time to move. Oh, mostly hardwood floors downstairs. Neighborhood pool, but the town has a new aquatic center, so we may join that instead (pool is optional in the association). The house is on a cul-de-sac and across the street from ds's school so he can walk. Not the dream home we expected to have if we ever paid this much for a house, but housing is high here. It was pretty funny the other day. Dh has had some reservations about this house for several reasons (the price; he wanted one that I didn't want; and the fact that we bought it after only looking at it once - he likes to have time to worry over things). So, when a house nearby came up for sale recently, we checked on it just to see what we might have passed up. Dh had this attitude like "see how great this one looks, I'll bet if we'd waited we could have had this". We'll we get the flyer on it and the price is over $600,000!!! I'm like "be grateful we got a house at all in this town - now hush and be happy!".

YIKES!!!!
That is why we are remodeling this house..it was gonna cost us over $200,000 to move a block!!!!

Do either of these pools have swim teams and activities..join that one!!!!

Donna - Your house sounds great! We hope to move this spring, however the thought of packing up this one overwhelms me!! :) I am starting to do a little each day.

I hear ya! Ds went to a sleepover a couple of weeks ago, and came home saying, "Mom, they live in a mansion!" LOL I'm finding people to be very nice here, though.

Thanks - we really are grateful to have it. Where are you thinking of moving to? Same town?

The aquatic center has activities - not sure about a swim team. I'm sure we'll join there so dh and I can use the exercise equipment. I thought it would be nice to join both, so I could just let the older boys walk to the neighborhood pool on days I didn't want to go. Dh thought that was absurd. The man has obviously never spent a whole summer with these 3 boys.

Your house sounds great! We just moved into our house about a year ago. The ironic thing is that we moved because dh was working on the west side of the city and we lived on the east side. Now we live on the west side and he is transferring to a job on the east side:( There goes his short commute.

Did you smack him and tell him you were joining both anyway??? LOL
It would be a great way to meet neighbors. The aquatic center sounds great too.

these houses aren't really that much bigger and all are as old as mine, the real estate market has just gone through the roof!!!!! Of course we love that our house has appreciated too...when we bought the price was about $92/sf..now it is around $124/sf!!!

Bummer about the commute! We bought here partly because dh needs to be close to DFW, and his office was going to relocte to Las Colinas. There's been no talk of the relocation lately, but Addison is where they're at now, and it's not too far away.

We plan to move in the same town, hopefully to something newer. I just don't want to lose any of my storage space! :)

Donna-the house sounds great. I am glad you are liking it and the boys didn't have to change schools. I think it would be great to live that close to a swimming pool. Hopefully this summer we will get that opportunity. dh's employer has a country club membership that has gone unused and we are close to the country club so we get it yeah!!
Glad to hear the neighborhood is a good one!! fun!! Since you have moved will your schooling take longer or did everything transfer??

That's a nice little perk - the country club membership. I'm sure ya'll will enjoy it.
I didn't lose any credits in the transfer, but since I took last semester off, and I need a few more hours to graduate from TWU than OSU, I'll graduate May 2002 instead of May 2001.
We only moved a few blocks from the apartments, so my commute is actually easier since ds can walk to school now.

The house sounds so nice. I love moving. It seems like a great neighbourhood to live in too. Glad you found one you liked.
