I'm down to 202.
I'm a little ticked off that I haven't dropped lower than that. I normally lose 1-2 pounds a week when I am doing all the right things, which I feel like I am, but since I had a zero pound loss last week I was hoping for 2 this week. (Sigh) oh well at least I'm heading in the right direction.
I increased my mileage to 3 miles last week and I officially signed up for the Mini-Marathon over the weekend. I'm going to try and work on increasing my speed a little this week and then look to add on another mile next week. I ran at a 6.2 mph pace this morning. It isn't much faster than my regular 6.0 mph, but I'm just trying to inch it up slowly.
I'll need to start running 5 miles a day (3 X a week) in order to start preparing for the mini. I'm not worried about the physical part, but I am going to have to change my morning a bit. I get up at 5:30 now, so I'm going to have to get up at 5:00 to make time for those extra miles. Did I mention I'm not a morning person? LOL Oh well, if I don't do it in the morning I never will... onward I march.
How was your week?
Brichard, is your goal to find a weight loss program that works or a healthy lifestyle that you can continue for the rest of your life?
It seems to me, that you do these intense exercise/diet programs either lose the weight or burn out..go off, get disgusted and then start back over again. What if, instead of a quick goal, you found a healthy way of eating that you could do for the rest of your life and an exercise pace that you could do the rest of your life and let the pounds fall off as they may?

I totally don't see that in my approach. My exercise regime has been fairly steady and I don't think it is overtly intense or too light. I just see my workouts overall as moderate. Perhaps I exercise a bit much for a couple of months to prepare for the Mini, but I've done that for four straight years. Many people run this even every year.
When I commit to eating healthy there is nothing intense about it. I'm not hungry I'm just simply eating better for me. And losing 1-2 pounds a week when you are eating healthy (and starting off overweight) is completely within the realm of what a person should expect.
But it is a bit of a balancing act to figure out just what you can and can't eat and still get to a good weight/waist goal. Age effects this as your metabolism changes, exercise... it is just a tough nut to crack. And in order to lose weight it is simple math. You have to take in less than you expend. Once you get to a goal weight, then you have to go through the balancing act again to make sure you are eating enough to maintain and not too much or too little.
When I wrestled in high school I needed to cut weight. I dropped 15 pounds in three weeks by going on a 1000 calorie a day diet. Now, that is a quick fix and not something one can maintain for life.
I see my problem as totally different than that. I liken myself to what Oprah Winfrey has done. She was doing the "right" lifestyle when she trained with Bob Greene. And she maintained it for awhile. She simply turned away from it for whatever reason, and now she is back into it.
My problem is not that I push myself to hard, but rather I just get off of the program.
sticking steady at my weight...just keep on plugging through my workouts and portion control....slow and sure wins the race...:)

Didn't do too good with portion control or water intake last week. I am keeping in motion with my walking daily.
DH - has proposed new motivation. It appears that we are taking a caribean cruise at the end of March. I would really like to loose 15 lbs for this.
Need to be extremely careful with portion control and Definately drink more water. On of the problems with water intake is that as a substitute, I am not able to get to the bathroom when I would like. Hence, I avoid water during the morning hours. Any solutions to this problem????
There is something else you should keep in mind, that you probably already know... muscle weighs more than fat, and as you exercise and burn the fat, you will invariably gain muscle in it's place. The results? Weight loss as seen on the scale actually slows down, or stops. This happens to me all the time. In fact, several years ago, after my baby (who is now 7) weaned himself, I weighed 152 pounds. I started walking with my neighbors (who all became dead heads and dropped out), then kept walking by myself. In just four months I had dropped two pant sizes. My friends all commented that I looked like I must have lost 30 or 40 pounds-- but I still weighed 152. Don't be quite so concerned with what your scale says, as what your mirror shows you. : )

I gained one little pound last week and I've already worked out everyday since Friday - maybe I'll get it back under control.

Yeah, I read similar stories in the "Make the Connection" book as well. I know that even though I am not losing weight at the scale, I am still increasing my fitness through the weight lifting and running. However, in order to get to the pant size I feel comfortable with I'm going to have to drop some more pounds. I've been in great physical shape in terms of endurance (running the Mini Marathon,) but I was still fat (220 pounds.) For me to be in top physical form I really have to monitor my food intake closely.
I'm getting there, I just might get there quicker if I say... give up my daily Cappuccino in the morning! LOL!

I'm so excited...I lost 4 pounds since the last time I went to the Doctor, 3 weeks ago... I wasn't really dieting just watching my junk. Atleast it did not continue to increase.
I don't have a dependable scale at home so I'll just check in at the doctor when I go back....which should be soon with this sinus problems.

Ok, just got weighed -- lost .2 of a lb. I'm okay with that. I'm surprised, in fact. The way I ate this past week was shameful!!!
Dh's job got settled - he is employed but it totally sucks (excuse me), but he'll stick w/it until he finds another. So, I'm back on track this week.... I've got a b'day next month, and I can't wait to compare pictures of last year with this year.........
