After always guessing about my estimated caloric intake, and knowing I could probably do better, and always feeling guilty about how many of those calories come from fat, I decided to take a random inventory yesterday-- AFTER packing my lunch for work. It was just a typical eating day. After listing everything and adding up the calories, and the fat calories, I was very surprised-- I consumed (I actually ate everything in my lunchbox) OVER 2,000 calories! But you want to know the good part? LESS THAN 300 of those calories were from fat! But the best part is, I'm not getting any fatter inspite of all those calories, so I must be burning them up.

But this got me curious: How many calories are you all consuming, and how many do you think you really need? What's the fat percentage of all those calories?

I honestly don't know. I think that all diets, be they fat or carbohydrate, basically come down to calorie consumption. I just think that fat grams are easier to compute b/c it is a lower number. Trying to keep track of 30g per day or 10 per meal is pretty easy for me to do, but when you are tracking by the thousands it is a little more difficult. I still do look at calories b/c I know that many items that are low in fat are high in the calorie dept. However, I've never really looked to see how much I consume. If I can find my calorie counting book, it would be interesting to check out!

I love the Diet Swiss Miss Cocoa. It is fat free with only 25 calories b/c it is sweetened with Splenda! Woo Hoo! Guilt free chocolate fix!
