Hi All!
I'm new to this group. I used to receive the newsletters about a year and a half ago but never got on the message boards. I've just come to realize the wealth of information, ideas and support that come from those on message boards.
I am a work at home mom of Drew 4 and Haley 2. I run a theme party business from home. I also babysit 2 additional children. Drew is currently in pre-school but we have decided to not put him in again next year. I've been working with him at home and from what I've gathered from area pre-schools and even Kindergarten moms he is more advanced. I can't see paying that much money for playtime. ****Am I wrong for thinking this way?
Anyway I just wanted to stop in and say hi to everyone. We got 7 inches+ of snow here in Ohio. I'm getting really tired of snow and cold. I hope it starts to warm up soon.
Take Care! I can't wait to meet everyone.

Hey!
Welcome to the boards! Nice to meet you, I'm Joni and I'm a 16 year old from southeast missouri. I used to get on here pretty often but I'm finding it more and more difficult to get on here...to busy. You know how high school gets with work and school and after school stuff. Anywho, welcome!!!!

Oooo! Ewww! My Ds is turning 8 and wants a puppy themed party. Any suggestions would be appreciation. :)
I'm a semi-regular. Right now I'm going to community college to prepare for nursing school in 2004. I have an 8 yo ds and 9 and dd.
I believe Mom usually knows best when it comes to educational decissions. My children both went two years to a cooperative play school. I believe it helped their social skills a lot.
I hope you enjoy posting here.

Welcome to IB!
My kids both went to preschool and for them it wasn't so much what they were learning there because we do a lot with them at home, but more for the socilaization. Like Jeannie said it really helps with social skills and prepares them for kindergarten. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer and like Jeannie also said it's a personal decision and one that should be based on what works best for you.
Hi! Welcome to the board!
Since you are running your business at home, and your son is advanced, have you thought of homeschooling? My firstborn was advanced too. At age 3 he begged me to teach him to read, and when I put him off he tried to teach himself-- I realized I better help him or he'd run into problems, lol. So... when he was four we began kindergarten at home. When my dh developed a chronic illness I had to go to work and put both dks in ps. DS #1 is still a year ahead of all the other students, as a result of hs. He has been allowed to work at an accelerated pace. Due to his young age, we have decided it would be unwise to advance him to the next grade.
Anyway, just wondering if hs is something you might consider to help your son continue in his advanced progression. :)
Welcome
I have two kids girl 5 and boy 7, I am a SAHM, but work partime while they are in school.....
again welcome
Hi,
I'm new here too!!!
I am a S.A.H.M. of two great kids ds-6 and dd-10.
I use to work full time as an E.C.E. before my kids came along.
I now volunteer in the children's ward of our local hospital and teach a Sunday School class at our church for the 3 & 4 yr. olds.
My kids both attended pre-school on a 3 day a week basis. Like someone else mentioned - more for the socialization aspect, than educational.
I look forward to getting to know everyone here.

Thanks for the big welcome from everyone! Yes I have thought of homeschooling. I guess you could say I've been doing that already but as he gets older I might have a problem. Let's just say I'm not the greatest in math. <LOL> A friend of mine told me I could have him tested to jump into the 1st grade. I agree that skipping a grade is not a great idea.
I'll have the same situation with my daughter (2). I jokingly asked her if she wanted to go and teach Drew's class their colors. She said "Yes!!" Can you imagine an intellegent 2 year old with a huge attitude? That would be Haley. <g>
Up until the last 6 months both of my kids were socialized with others all the time. Due to the other kids from our playgrpup having the money to pu their kids in activity classes our schedules clashed and we haven't gotten together. Unfortunately there is only 1 little boy on our street but he is in an all day kindergarten program. I can't wait for all this snow to go away and stay away so we can go to the park to meet some new kids.
I've also thought about asking the preschool where Drew is on the waiting list (I don't think he will get in) if I could post a flyer about looking for a playmate, or something to the effect. It's right around the corner from our house so everyone that attends would be fairly close. I'm not sure if they would let me but I want to at least try. I'm also going to talk with the PTA president at our local elementary to find out who I could talk to about the kindergarten program and any challenging programs that they may have. Drew espcially enjoys the group setting which is another reason I hesitate teaching him at home.
Gosh, I could ramble on all day. <g> Thanks again for the welcome.
Smiles!!

Jeannie,
That is the first Puppy Theme I've had requested. What about our Fire 911 theme? Fire dogs are on everything. Click on the link below or copy and paste into your address bar.

Let me know if you like this idea. If so I can help you come up with some games. If not we'll find something else.
Smiles!!!
