I'm on the way! DW and I had a pretty nice weekend in the fact that we were able to indulge some of our cravings without going overboard.
I bought one box of girl Scout Cookies (Love those Peanut Butter Do Si Dos!) but I limited myself to no more than 4 cookies per day. We also went to Texas Roadhouse and she ordered a steak meal and I ordered chicken. We split the meals and it was quite tasty! To finish off the week we had some wings at the only place she likes them... Buffalouies in Bloomington.
It was nice to prove to ourselves that we can indulge from time to time as long as we don't go crazy. I also was able to wear some new pants this last weekend. I'm at a real strange place, b/c when you are only losing a pound or two a week, it is difficult to know when you have made it to the next pair of pants! Oh well, it will be fun learning!
My workouts weren't good last week and the weather is making it difficult again this week. I walked last Wed/Fri and ran on Thursday. I plan on getting in Tues-Friday this week. I really miss it and I'm really ready, so here is to hoping for some clear roads to travel on!

Well, I find when my pants are baggy, it's time to go down to the next size. ;) LOL
They say (at least for women) that 10 lbs. is a dress size. Now, I don't want to know if you wear dresses, Brichard, but that's the guideline I've heard. ;)
BTW - don't look at it as ONLY losing a lb. or two a week -- that is the MOST healthy way to lose and KEEP it off. No more packing it back on and having to start over if you lose it slowly.

Way to go everyone!!
I am still plugging away at my exercise program. Last week, I was feeling emotionally down. It really made it hard cause I craved sweets. I didn't eat very well. I don't have a scale to get the final weight, but I still have away to go.
Dh did book the cruise for next month. I would really like to lose 10 lbs. I have been pondering if a weight loss pill would help???? I am also afraid that my weight is from having dd. It is right in my abdomen. A good inch that I can pinch. I look ok everywhere else.
For now I will keep up with my walking and try to watch portion size. It is hard cause I do crave those sweets.
Been wanting a homebacked peanut butter cookie and chocolate!!!!
Hold me back everyone!!!
Go IB!!!!

Isn't your dd 8??? Kind of unfair to blame her 8 years later..unless she is feeding you those sweets? ;)
Are you doing any toning exercises?

I'd really try to stay away from that option. So many of those contain ephedra and that is dangerous!

And the truth is out!!! Actually, I was not trying to blame her. Just trying to explain were my fat spot is.
What kind of toning should I do???? Currently, I just walk. I guess to get ready for this trip that I need to get my buns in gear.
Give me a simple, easy, and fast toning exercise please!!! LOLOL (Is there such a thing????)
Sit ups, crunches...stuff like that.

According to the trainers I've talked to over the years, the only way to lose that tummy is through cardio. Many people have a pretty firm tummy, but it just can't be seen from the fat that is covering it. Believe me... I know! This is where I store most of my fat.
Unfortunately we can't do much about where our body likes to add fat or take away fat... part of it just seems to be genetic. Toning is a great idea no matter what you do, I've just been told that there really is no such thing as "spot reduction." If you want that belly to look nice... gotta hit the treadmill!

Thanks for the info - Brichard. I have never heard that before. It seems to be a store of fat. Right here that I can pinch. Everywhere else I seem to be fine.
I still want to incorporate some toning exercises. Any lists for me would be great.
I knew it would take 2 personal trainers to get me into shape!!!!
BTW, I missed my workout this morning. What I thought were allergies yesterday got much worse as the day went along.
I had to take this day off. Other news is that no food stayed down either!!! I hope to get back on track tomorrow!!!

I find this really interesting. For myself I see no change in my body from the treadmill. I know I need the cardio but....I have the best luck losing inches and firming my tummy with weights and toning exercises. I use the double ab nautilus machine, do ab work on the fitness ball and crunches. I store my fat in my stomach area also but I have seen results from doing the above. I also know that you have to reduce your body fat not spot tone. And....to toot my own horn-my body fat went down 2.9% in the last six weeks!! woo hoo! just my 2 cents worth!!!

Another fun fitness thing I am trying is wearing a pedometer. According to healthpartners.com a basic indicator of fitness is getting 10,000 steps in each day. Our PE teacher at school loaned me a pedometer to track my steps. Yesterday I got 11,600 steps in including my workout on the treadmill. I am curious how many I will get in doing housework etc. today. I am competitive by nature so being able to see how many steps I have taken gives me the urge to make sure I get past 10,000. Just another idea!!!

Not surprised w/dd's b'day -- pizza, restaurants, cake, ice cream....
back on track this week - I'm not in the mood to start going backwards now!

Well toning is certainly going to make you stronger in the areas that you focus. IE, a flabby arm will look better if you are building up the muscle around it... no doubt. It is just that in every book I've ever read on the subject and from several trainers (including some in an exercise physiology class at IU) they have said that Cardio is your best bet for reducing fat. You simply need to burn that stored fat you have with energy, and your body uses much more energy when you are running than when you are lifting. I think anaerobic activity has its place for enhancing and defining muscle tone, but this is just what I've found from the studies I've done.
