Okay... I ordered some slipcovers for my couches (at a phenomenal price), but I think they're going to be too bright red. My stuff is all darker/brickish red and blues.. lighthouse colors so to speak... I guess I've got a cottage theme going! Anyway, was wondering, if they turn out to be too glaringly red, what I could do to tone them down w/out trying to dye the whole things! Acckk... don't even want to think about attempting that! Would it work to maybe buy a darker red color of dye and use a spray bottle to kind of randomly spray it on? Instead of making it solid... don't want it to look patterned or tie-dyed, but I was thinking with a spray bottle, it wouldn't be "perfect", but would darken it up a bit... am I off my rocker?!!!!!! any other suggestions? Hopefully, they won't be as bright as I'm thinking, but I want to be prepared, just in case!!!!!
TIA :D

You remind me of my mom when she got a good deal..it's gonna work no matter what! LOL Funny story..when dh and I were getting married, we were very lucky that several people offered to host parties for us. Mom was buying her clothes for them. She came home one day and said "bought this dress and it was the most incredible deal..paid $10 for it, but it fits kind of strangely" told her to try it on, she came out and I took one look at it, and said "well mom, you have it on backwards!!!!!" it was such a good deal she figured, what the hell! LOL

anyway..if they don't work...you may not save yourself money in the long run as you try to make them work...what other colors did they come in? maybe introduce a 3rd color in the scheme.

Your mom and I would have gotten along famously! LOL Cute story!!!!

They had denim, which I was originally going to get, but of course, it was sold out! The only other colors that would go were a natural or taupe. No way, Jose.. not with my dd! I'll just wait and see what they look like... I think my spray bottle/dye idea might work. I might try it on the back, first, though! Just to be sure!!!!! LOL

Well....... even though you didn't ask MYYYYYYYYYY opinion, ;)
I'm gonna give you one. LOL
How about..... if they are too red.... toss a patterned throw over the back/corner and then add some oversized throw pillows in coordinating/contrasting colors/patterns..... that would break up all that color, if it's too much.

There. I said it. I butted in. :p lol

I don't know Jenn- that was WAY too good of an idea for someone who didn't ask for anyone else's input or even give us the benefit of the doubt. :newwink:

I was gonna suggest the same thing...I had an ugly old gold sofa that my ex-in-laws gave us and I dressed it up with a throw and pillows. It toned it down alot.

Thank you Jenn and Vea... wow, imagine... someone actually giving ADVICE when I ask for it! Unlike someone who shall remain nameless... ANN!!!!!

Seriously, good idea! That's probably what I'll do if it turns out the be too red. Thanks! :D
