View Full Version : the weakest link
Did anyone see the Weakest Link tonight? I can't get the little saying out of my mind, "You are the weakest Link, goodbye!" I am not sure if I liked it or not. It was kinda hard to understand her accent and I think the contestants felt the same way!
I HATED it!!! I thought the questions were fun and I liked the quick pace, but it seemed so contrived! I thought the interview with the "voted off" contestant was so silly. I had no problem understanding the questions, just thought the whole show was dumb.
And how anticlimatic at the end "oh you won". They had the guy that won on the Today show and he said "well, it's supposed to be an anti-game show so they didn't want us showing any emotion"
I just couldn't believe how contrived and nasty it was. It really seemed somehow sort of fake.
I haven't seen it. The promos haven't interested me. It's like she is trying to be the "Judge Judy" of game shows with her quick, nasty comments. I just don't think people need to be made to feel stupid. I hate the comment, "You are the weakest link." I probably won't watch it. Never watch Boot Camp either.
It's hugely popular in Britain, but as my dh said "heck, they are nasty people over there, so what do you expect!" LOL
ok, Mick, don't beat me up!

I actually liked it!! I saw the host on the Today show and she was all smiles and very nice. She said that the Americans were much nastier to each other than the contestants in Britian. Even the audience was booing people. If you can't take the critizism of the show then you shouldn't go on it. I loved the diversity of the contestants. I can't believe that one kid was a high school senior!
It isn't really a show I will excitedly look forward to, but I'll watch if it's on and I have tv time.

I saw it but don't know what to think. It all seemed very hostile to me. Nothing but a bunch of whining and name calling. Of course no one wanted to be the one to get voted off, but that's all part of the game, no sense being such a sore loser about it. I don't think I would watch again unless there was nothing else on.

I feel like a real idiot because I've never even heard of it. LOL It doesn't really sound like anything I'd like to watch anyway... especially with all of these bad reviews... LOL
Bye... :bounce:  :bounce:

MM ! I was watching it for a minute or two and attempted to change the channel, but #1 son begged me to leave it where it was. He loves knowledge game shows. I have to admit after watching the show, I liked it.
I am probably the only red blooded American who hasn't watch those "survivor" type shows but they really don't interest me. Then again, I didn't watch that show that was so hot in the 85-86 about the lady and the log. What was that show called ? ßß!

Of COURSE I'm going to beat you up over it! My dh is a Brit and Monkeyboy is a half-Brit! Shame on you for posting such rubbish!
As far as the show goes, dh thought it was AWFUL and couldn't stomach the host of the show. I didn't even watch it because the promos for it got on my last nerve. Glad I didn't miss much!
Dh and ds like it quite a bit, although ds's favorite thing is the way the host says "weakest link" real fast. I have some qualms about it, only because of our generation's parental tendency to "think positive, act positive, speak positive, etc." in an effort to combat all the negativity society brings to the world. After I watched the show for the third time and saw the contestants laughing sheepishly when the host berated them, I realized it was just a strange attempt at humor. I definately would not hold up well as a contestant, though. The negativity would be too much for me to handle-- I guess I'm just a weak link.
