Does anyone have a link or two to any good birthday cake sites? I have found a few but if anyone has one they love, I'd really appreciate the link. Thanks 8)

Not sure what kind of cake you're looking for, but they have some ideas here:

Thanks Kathy... I certainly didn't mean to cause any problems by posting a few extra's... Sorry about that.

Just a fun suggestion for kids' cakes...I always make my dks a cake in the shape of the number of their new age. (My ds2 turns 7 next week...and at his party he will have a "7" shaped cake.) It's great for pictures...and it's easy to do!!!

What a cute idea Mary. I'll have to remember and do that for my next dck's birthday cake/party... Do you cut the cake in the shape of the number yourself or do they sell cake pans like that?

I don't think they sell pans in the numeral shape...I just make a regular sheet cake (large cookie sheet type pan...bigger than 13x9...but you could use the 13x9 pan). Then I use a sheet of paper to make my "template" of the numeral. (For an 8, you would use two circle cakes....and trim a bit off of the bottom circle so that they "fit" together better.) I freeze my cake for a bit (to firm it up) and then lay my template on top...cut with a sharp knife. Trim off all of the extra stuff, and frost as usual. (Sometimes I move the cake to a new platter...sometimes I don't need to!) I'm loving having a #7 to do...it's easy!!!!!
