How are your windows dressed? Did you buy pre-made curtains or did you have them custom made? We have a shallow bay window in the front of the house. I have a feeling that I will end up making them myself because it would be impossible to find exactly what I'm looking for in the fabric I want. The other hard part is to visualize what it is that I want. I saw a book in Pueblo that had really cute window treatments. It was a cross between a roman blind and a stagecoach valance with tabs at the top and ties that go down the front to tie off the bottom. Haven't found anything like that in the books here, so I have been wracking my brain for "the look". How did you all decide would work for you?

I usually do custom window treatments cause I never find premade ones that I like. I finally got tired of being locked into a certain fabric that I went to planation shutters in this house...now I can change the paint and decor whenever I want and not have to worry about the windows! LOL

That is what I'm considering for dd's garden room. What size are your shutters? The ones I was looking at was 2 1/2 inches. Did you take your shutters all the way to the top or did you do it cafe style? Does is look bare with just the shutters on and does it let in enough light when you have them opened?

I have the 3.5" slates...was really surprised how much light it lets in. Only reason that I went with shutters. I was very phobic about that for years! None of our windows are the same size so all of our shutters were custom. They are vinyl and I love them...easy to clean, look just like wood but no chipping or repainting. The windows are totally framed out first so they look very finished.

This is what I have and the company we used. They are all individual franchise.

All of our treatments are custom made (by my mom!). She does an excellent job and I couldn't afford to have them done by anyone else in the fabric I wanted.
The kitchen window and door have store bought toppers.
We have a bay window in the dining room and our room and we did swags and short jabots in the dining room and mom did a scalloped swag for the bedroom and we added tassles and braid at the lowest points.
The dining room was a b**ch - they had to be mounted on a board that had to be cut to fit the angles of the bay window - I still remember getting those damn things up. lol
