does everyone have one of these? I was with a group of people the other day ...and it seems like everyone is getting some sort of ADT or other brand name security systerm....am I alone in not being that concerned?

just asking...if your uncomfortable answering I understand...

I don't even lock my doors so I don't think I need to jump to a security system just yet. I don't even know anyone who has one. My office at work does but no one has one at their house.

Not yet... but some day we might consider getting one. With the girls coming in at all hours of the morning (coming home from work) and with the animals running/jumping around... I don't think it would work real good for us right now. One of my friends has one and they are always accidentally setting it off because their kids are coming in/out all during the night too. I know they have a secret code that they can punch in that turns it off... and it also notifies the police station that everything is okay. I like the thought of having one... but for now for us I think it would be more of a hastle owning one than not. :)

I am not paranoid, but just like I lock my door at night or we when leave, we set our alarm. We have one, have always had in any of our houses. I don't think it would stop someone from coming in if they really wanted to, but I think it might make them choose a different house over mine. It's no big deal with people coming in at different times...there are ways to set it to work around that, even with the pets, not a huge prob. I particularly like it now with ds coming in alone, he can look to see if it's been triggered before he comes in. In fact the other day, the 16 year old next door knocked and asked dh to walk her over cause her alarm wasn't set and it usually was when she got home from school.

Yep...we have Brinks. We live in a wonderful suburban neighborhood...however, dh travels alot, and the security system is for peace of mind! We always set it when we leave the house.
