Calm down, take a big deep breath! LOL Based on a 150 day school year it is really only $1.46 per day per child. My kids go to school 180 days so it would be $1.22 a day...not too bad.
I would ask to get grandfathered or see how they estimate it out for the kids who end the year then.

Ugh!!

That's actually the norm around here now if you're a certain distance away from the school - you have to pay for bussing. And, where we live it's not even an option to get our dks bussed in. (Which is fine since we knew that when we moved here.) I feel like a chauffeur most days and the running gets old, but I know it will get easier when they are both at school all day.

Hope you can figure something out!

It's in our taxes here so you get it no matter what!!! And my kids are in walking distance.

Sorry Renee. We have the same problem here. If students live within one mile of the school they have to walk or pay a fee. (That's elementary) I think the limit is 1.5 miles for middle school and 2 miles for high school. I think the limits are set by state regulations. 2 years ago when the economy was better the schools here were a little lax about the limits, but last year when all of the deficits starting popping up the limits were really taken seriously. The children 5 houses down from me are bussed, but my neighbor is paying 600 to bus her kids on the same bus.

its just so unexpected, I am sure I will adjust...especially next year when they both go at the same time.....
