dd is turning 11 in May, and says she thinks she is still young enough for a "kiddie party" but doesn't want it to be theme based or seem like it's for little kids.
We have decided on a sleepover for dd and five of her closest friends plus my sisters two girls.
Any ideas on what might be fun? We are trying to stay away from videos, but will likely get one as a late night activity before they go to sleep- who am I kidding, I don't think there will be much sleeping going on.

How 'bout taking them to an early movie then home and let them make their own pizzas, have tons of nail polish, nail tatoos, etc. for them to use - I imagine at 11 they'd have a blast just being together giggling all night!
At my dd's party (she's just 7, though) they painted pillowcases.
I stenciled on cute girls holding hands - how about you get the girls oversized t-shirts and get some fabric pens and let them go at it - that can replace the goody bag since they are so 'grown up ' now. ;)
Have fun!!

OH! Do you have a karaoke (sp?) machine? If you can borrow one/rent one, whatever, that would be a hoot! Let them dress up like rock stars and make a music video!!! LOL THAT would be fun!!

Got to thinking - you could grab a few handfuls of those AOL Free Internet Access CD's that are out everywhere and run a thread through them and hang them from the ceiling in the 'recording studio'. They will catch the light --- oh! You can get a small disco ball at Party City or Wal-Mart --- that would be cool!!

Heck - use the CD as the invitation. Use paint pens to write the info or something.... maybe cut out a CD out of posterboard and write the invitation on it..... lots of ideas popping up here!

I ran your suggestions past dd and now she is really excited about the party. BIL has a karaoke machine that he may let us borrow. The oversize t-shirts and paints sound good too. I even noticed some "glow-in-the-dark" fabric paint at Wal-mart the other day.
Thanks for the advice, I now have a very happy almost 11 year old.

Cool! Hope she has fun.

I know my dd has now decided she'd like a "rock and roll" party... karoke, music video making too! :)
