Anybody's kids suffer? Do they have meds? What do they take?
Dd was on Claritin last year and it worked great, even worked well the first of the season this year.
NOW! Woah - it's not touching her allergies. Need to make an appt. w/the doc but wondered if anyone had children who suffer this time of year.

My dd had winter allegies in Pueblo?( She was on Nasonex and Rynna-12. Once she got her adnoids and tonsils out, its not as bad. She never had the typical symptoms either. Hers just gave her a tummy ache in the morning-supposedly it dripped down the back of her throat at night. She wasn't a big sneezer or watery eyes.

Both my dks have allergies, though not as bad as I do. When I was a kid, there was practically NOTHING available that helped me-- I was MISERABLE :( ! As a teen, I finally went to the doctor and explained, "I am miserable, I can't get any rest, it's really wearing me down, and I'm exhausted." He prescribed Tavist D (this was back in the 80's). It worked great-- I got lots of rest, even in school-- cause I couldn't stay awake, lol. Now I take Claritin, and it works fairly well during the day, then begins to lose it's effectiveness in the evening. So if I can get to bed early enough to sleep it off, I overlap with Benadryl at bedtime. Works great. I can't take any of those meds that make you drowsy, because of my job. Besides that, I can't even drive on that stuff, let alone work!

Now for ds': DS #1 (age 9) has a chronically STUFFY nose, and ITCHY skin, even breaks out in hives sometimes. He takes Benadryl. Works great.

DS#2: (age 7) Chronically RUNNY nose, all year round, but it's even worse in the spring. He doesn't like to take medication. Yesterday I convinced him to take some Benadryl. It seemed to help dry up his nose, but I also noticed that it made him whiny and emotional, prone to cry when things didn't go his way. I'm sure it was because the Benadryl made him tired.

I take Allegra, and ds2 takes either Claritin or Singulair (which also helps his asthma).

Does ds#1 take Benedryl during the day? It knocks dd out.
I've given her Dimetapp for the last two days and that seems to take care of some sneezing, but not the stuffiness. I'd forgotten it was cold/allergy.
May get an appt. w/her doc and see what he suggests.

Thanks for the input, ya'll!
