The Kids are going easy on me today!!

Here I sit. It has been a quiet day. Thank goodness. Yesterday, I did 506 books. This morning has only been about 200. I am mostly caught up, except for shelving. That will get done shortly. I really needed this break.

Are you the school librarian? One of our greatest volunteer opportunities is working in the library. We check in/out the books, shelve, stock, bind..whatever. It frees the librarian up to work with the kids. We also get money back from our district based on volunteer hours. Also, there is a company that donates money to our school if any of their retirees work in our school.

AnnW - It is pretty lonely at the box this am. Yes, I am a permanent substitute in the library. It is the dream job. My hours are 8 - 12. Four days a week. It gives me spending dough and it is fun to interact with the children.

I just found out that the 4 grade are at a science program. That is why it is so quiet in here. Course I will be swamped when they get out.

How are your cookie lifts going??? LOLOL

I started out as a Volunteer here. Then this job fell into my lap. We really don't have any volunteers in our school. It is sad to say!! Few have signed up, but aren't very dependable.

I could get into trouble saying this, but our school is not very welcoming of volunteers. Last year, I got kicked out my dd's class. That is another story- which still frustrates me.

This year volunteers have to sign a contract and attend a "training" class. It is not very volunteer friendly. Don't pass this around. IT could cost me my job!!
