Alright, this is sort of personal, but I am so tired of trying to figure out what the h**l is wrong with my body.

Dh and I decided that it was time for me to get off of the pill, so I did Feb 2. On Feb 6, I started my menstrual cycle. I haven't had one since. I took a home test on Mar. 7, and it was negative. I waited for 2 more weeks and took another one and it was positive, so I went and had a blood test done. It was negative. I have taken two more home tests since then, and they have both been negative. I called the Dr. two weeks ago, and she said to wait two weeks, take another test and call her back. She said if I hadn't started by today, she would call me in a prescription to start me. I called her, but she never called back.

The thing is that my family was telling me that I should have a sonogram done before I take the pills to start just to make sure that I am not pregnant.

I know getting off of the pill can cause unusual cycles, but another friend said since I have had one since I have been off, that I should have continued to have them.

Anyway I guess what I am getting at is, has anyone else had this happen, or does anyone else have any clue what I should do?

Any information would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Good grief! Don't you just love being a girl??! Hang in there, Leigh.

My opinion is that going off the pill and starting 4 days later probably didn't have anything to do w/one another - you were probably going to start at that time anyway.

Can't figure out why there hasn't been another cycle.... maybe the body is just in some sort of shock.

I know when we were ready to try for dd, I went off the pill and was told not to even try for 3 months - to be sure to get my system clean of the contraceptive.

I would want an appointment w/my ob-gyn; none of this stuff over the phone, etc.

Sorry I don't seem to be much help. Do know you're in my thoughts and keep us up to date on what's going on, okay? :tinysmile

I agree with Jen, make an appointment to be SEEN by the doc. Hope you find out an answer!

I've got a friend who's pregnancy test never came back as positive until she was almost 3 months along, but she knew she was pregnant because #1, she didn't get her period and #2, she felt pregnant... had morning sickness. I'd also make an appointmemnt with my ob-gyn... this is something that is way too important to be discussing over the phone. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you... :)

I agree with the other ladies...make an appt. and see your doctor. It could very well be your body adjusting itself to being off of the pill. I was on the pill for quite a long time before becoming pregnant with ds1, and I remember that my cycle was quite irregular after going off of the pill. Let us know what happens!

I would definetly see your doctor....I was on the pill for 10 plus years...went off no irregularities..... everyone is different....

I also wouldn't start taking them again right away....talk to your OBGYN about and let us know what happens.....hang in there...

Ditto what all of the other gals said! I would definitely go in and see a doc face to face. Good luck and hang in there! :)

Thanks gals! I still am playing phone tag with the Dr, so I will probably make an appointment. I appreciate all of your input.

Diane- Did your friend's blood test even come out negative.

Leigh - As all others have said, go see your Dr. in person - not just over the phone. I would also insist on a sonagram - despite what blood tests show.

I took both home and blood tests when I suspected I was pregnant with ds. Both came back negative. I was almost 3 months along when they finally did the sonagram and discovered that I was pregnant. They did a follow up blood test whcih also came back negative. Just shows that these tests are not foolproof. The Dr. was as baffled by the results as I was.

I'm coming in late here I know and hopefully by now you have seen a doctor.

My personal experience was this- after I stopped taking the pill I only had 3 cycles in 12 months. After that I was regular again. I took the pill again after having dd and went off without having any problems. Might have something to do with your age and how long you've been taking the pill.
