How many of your schools have a zero tolerance policy? What is included in the zero tolerance, and how is it actually enforced?

One of the counties around here just changed their zero tolerance policy to a case by case basis. (I guess it isn't really zero tolerance anymore) They are going to let the principals have more say in who stays and who goes because the principal should know the children better.

How do ya'll feel about the zero tolerance?

Zero tolerance to what, exactly? That can mean lots of things, really. Here where I live, (and not just in the schools, either, it's anywhere) we have a "Zero Tolerance" on drugs. In the state they are trying really hard to enforce a ZT policy on child abuse, particularly sexual abuse. But for just plain old disobedience in the schools, and other "normal" childish behavior, such a thing really doesn't exist, unless a kid is just plain super, impossibly bad. But those kids usually choose not to stay in school anyway, and so don't need to be expelled.
