I know I have mentioned this before, but I am absolutely paralyzed by wasps and bees. I was just sitting outside reading a magazine, got up to come in for a drink and as I opened the door I see a wasp inside the house sitting on the floor where I need to walk. Dh and dks are at the lake and I am standing there petrified (even screamed when I saw it  ) So, I call my sister (who lives an hour away LOL!) and she is trying to tell me to just kill it and I literally cannot even get close enough to it to kill it. She tells me to go in the front door and get a fly swatter and when I explain to her that I don't think a fly swatter is long enough for me to get it she can't believe it. I also tell her that if I leave it and it disappears I won't know if it flew out or ventured further into my house. I know this all sounds pathetic and ridiculous, but the fear just takes over my body and nothing can make me move forward to just kill it. So, instead I stay on the phone with my nephew and watch it closely until it decides to fly out the open door 10 minutes later. :yippee: So, does anyone have anything that does this to them? I used to be bad about spiders, but now I can usually kill them or go after them with Raid. LOL! My other HUGE phobia is heights. 8o
Nope...no phobias where I am paralyzed like that! LOL Poor baby..10 minutes???
I am afraid of small planes, but that's not a huge problem in my every day life.

There are things I don't like, but nothing that affects me on a normal day. (I'm resigned to the fact that the chaos of my life has become "normal". LOL) I'm just glad that I don't live in a rat infested place....and ****roaches give me the creeps too. I just don't get paralyzed or screaming...I tend towards calm, extremely deliberate movement, with a calm voice. I shake when the crisis is past.

Ann - Yep, actually at least 10 minutes. Dh has the cell, so I called my sis on my phone card, it had 9 minutes left, that ran out and they called me back. I know I'm pathetic. That darn thing just kept sitting there, would walk a little, put it's wings up, settle back down, walk a little, you get the point - I knew it's every move. LOL! Think it's gonna be a long summer??
Rhonda - See, I can fly no prob - think it's 'cuz I am enclosed and feel safe that way. Now open bleachers, stairs, ladders...those are a different story. :\
I don't like anything being thrown at me. I literally get sick at my stomach when I have to play softball. I have to force myself to do it every year at summer camp. It seems so silly and no one really understands how I can get so anxious about it.
no Phobias that I can think of......

I'm not sure if it's really phobias but I hate snakes and mice. The first time we took our boat out this year I was sitting there watching my pole (we were fishing) and a mouse scurried by me in the little compartment that runs along the side!8o I didn't scream but I just couldn't move.

I am phobic about just about everything! Hights, boats, small places, elevators, escolators, and all bugs...LOL. I'm sure I forgot some. I've been working really hard to overcome some of them. I'm actually starting to be able to get on escolators now. Its harder to get on them going down. But atleast I can do it if I absolutly have too...I couldn't before.

Not sure if I would call it a phobia....but moths drive me nuts! Such a small little thing can sure make me jump!
:)
A lot of things that make me kind of uneasy or panicy not a real phobia except maybe mice. Not even mice to be exact just their tails. I don't know what it is but something about the sight of the long, pointy, leathery looking things just totally creep me out. Send shivers down my spine and totally make me unable to function. Give me the crreps jsut thinking about it.

I don't have what I would call any phobias... I don't like certain things such as heights or flying grasshoppers... but I can always avoide those. LOL If/when a grasshopper does fly at me... I might scream, swat at it and run... but I'm never too scared to the point where I can't do something with or about it. LOL
The next time you're confronted by a bee... try throwing a big book or magazine on top of it, it won't know what hit it. LOL

ROFL! If only I could find the courage!! I over-analyze and think in the commotion of it all the darn thing will still somehow get me. And, as ridiculous as I know this all sounds now - in the moment I regress to that petrifed state. :\

The next time it happens, get out the vacuum. Put the longest attachment on it and suck the bug into the cleaner. It will allow you to not get too close and it won't be able to move in time. Take the vacuum outside and let your husband deal with it when he gets home.

I like the vacuum idea - have used that for spiders. :D We'll have to see if it works with wasps. LOL! Do you think I could sit outside with the vacuumn cleaner and catch them as they fly by me? ;)

I took the kids to visit the in-laws yesterday. Since it's a 3 1/2 hr trip one way, they were loaded down with blankets in the back seat. Part of the road that I'm not familiar with is 3 lanes under contruction with a bunch of curves in it. No lane changes with smaller then normal lanes. All of a sudden DS starts yelling that there's a wasp flying around in the truck. I'm trying to see where it is and where I'm driving at the same time as I'm rolling down the windows and trying to drive at the same time. My wonderful son threw the covers over himself. Not even over himself and his sister sitting next to him. Just himself.
Normally, my solution for wasps and bees it long distance but spray. I'd rather clean up the spray after it's dead and open the windows.
I don't have any phobias but I do have things I don't like. Bugs and snakes are right up there. Usually I force myself to deal with it. I hate heights so I went on a tandem sky dive. The one thing that can really freak me out is when something happens at night and I'm home alone with the kids. Unfortunately, DH has always worked at jobs that mean he's away alot at night. I've already blockaded the door with the kids in bed with me.
I have 2 pretty bad ones. Spiders and heights. I'm getting better, but they are both still paralyzing at times. I'm to the point now where I can kill little spiders and can now sit on bleachers depending on how tall they are. I don't like stairs or bleachers that have open spaces where you can see the ground. I'm fine if they are concrete and solid!

Long lost sister? :D
Ditto for me!! If we have to go high up on open bleachers I cling to dh and take teeny tiny baby steps. Used to hate it in high school when my friends would want to sit at the way top. :nervous:  I could get up there and then I'd sit absolutely still and try so hard not to look down. Getting down was petrifying, too. :\
