Our song at the ceremony was "The Wedding Song" (how original huh?) LOL
At the dance it was "That's what love's all about" by Michael Bolton.
We had the reception in my parents' home, so we didn't have a band and dancing..wish we had. We had talked about putting something over the pool to be able to, but could never figure it out! LOL At the wedding, my soloists sang The Wedding Song, Sunrise Sunset and The Lord's Prayer.
Everyone got quite a chuckle during Sunrise Sunset when the line came up, "when did he get to be so tall"!! (my dh is 6'6")
Diane, yep that's Jim Croce
Sheryl...ROFL about your friends' song

We also had The Wedding Song. My Mom and Dad had that song at their wedding so I chose that. DH didn't get a vote! I had my flowers made up to match my Grandmother's. They both were touched to have me take something from their weddings and duplicate it for my own. The song was sung by the other 3 guys in DH's band. We couldn't find sheet music but my Mom finally found a record of it. She turned that into a tape and then the guys had to figure out how it went off of the tape. Turned out really nice.

What?? No Ave Maria?? lol Like Amy/CO we had "All I Ask of You" from the Phantom of the Opera. We also had "Household of Faith" and I walked down the aisle to "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring." Dh and I went to see Phantom of the Opera about a year after we were married and I just loved it. When "our song" came on I was overwhelmed.....so beautiful!!!

Ann... I also had my reception at my parents house. My dad even painted the house to match the dresses. LOL We used a record player and my dad also played a few songs on his concertina... but we didn't have a pool to have to worry about either. Now if any of my dd's ever decide to have their wedding receptions at our house... having the pool will be a major problem as it takes up most of the back yard. LOL I'll guarantee that we'd probably see more than a few guests falling in the pool.

Wow... your dh is really tall! Aren't you just a wee little one??? :) LOL My middle sister is only 5' 3-1/2" and her first dh was 6'6". Quite a difference in height too. :) Both son's that she had by him are very tall... her ds from her second marriage is just a tiney little guy, but still growing. He'll probably end up being a little bit taller than his mom but I'm afraid not by too much. LOL :)

Yep, Diane..he is 18" taller than me. I am 5'! That's one of the reasons everyone got so tickled by the song! LOL
Started the ceremony with "O Mio Babino Caro" from Gianni Schicci (sp)
"Starting Here Starting Now"
"One Hand one Heart"
Danced to "Wonderful World"
Rocked out to "I melt with you"
Walked down the aisle to Canon in D, of course, doesn't everyone, and out to Ode to Joy.

I knew you were tiny... just didn't know HOW tiny, and I hadn't realized just how tall your dh was. LOL I can certainly see why everybody was so tickled by the song. LOL :)

Not me! LOL I had the music really simple --it was just one guy playing guitar and singing. I walked in to the hymn "Beginning Today" I honestly don't remember what was played when I walked out--need to watch the video again.
Okay, so how many had their wedding taped??

At the ceremony - I Swear, He Has Chosen You for Me, In This Very Room, and God, A Woman and A Man. "Our" song at the dance - I Swear.
We did have our ceremony and dance taped. It is so fun to be able to go back and watch the videos!! Also special because my grandpa died a year later and now that my fil has died it is nice to have both of them on video during such a happy time.

I love "I Swear" and "God, a Woman and a Man... You're lucky that you had your wedding taped and can go back and watch it over and over again. I wish they had video camera's back in the day's when I got married SO many years ago. LOL

It was just budding technology when we got married too...I have always wished that we could have had it taped. My uncled did a "man on the street" type of interview on tape when my parents got married..he brought it over, maybe 30 years later, they had never heard it...it was really neat and special hearing the voices of those who had died.

I love What a Wonderful World! Did a video for my sis and her dh for their wedding with alternating photos of them growing up and the song that played was that one! Very touching!
And I love Pachelbel's Canon in D! How romantic! (I didn't walk down an isle--if I had, it would have definitely been to that song!)
Oh, and Modern English rules! ;) LOL! (Loved Valley Girl! Did you see that?)

That was really neat... but it must have been wierd hearing all those voices after all those years, especially if they had NEVER heard it before? I'll bet it was a lot of fun listening to them!!!
