First I should explain, I have asthma: both seasonal, and exercise induced-- that means strenuous activity like climbing stairs, hiking, and running will cause me to have an attack.
If I am in good condition, and take my medicine religiously, I can usually jog a short way, like about 50-100 meters without an attack. But since I have been working out by walking for several months now, walking just doesn't get my heart rate up. So I've been practicing jogging for up to a minute at a time.
Well, I have been off my asthma medication now for a week, and been doing well, but today was the icing on the cake-- I jogged for five minutes, non-stop at 5.5 mph, and didn't have an attack, not even wheezing-- just a little coughing! I am sooo excited! What a rush! I can hardly wait to tell my doctor at my next physical!
