Tomorrow is Monkeyboy's first day in his new classroom! He's been having such a hard time lately between Daddy being away and all the chaos going on in the class he was in--I'm hoping and praying that this will work out well for him. He's very excited about the change and can't wait until tomorrow (he couldn't go to sleep!).
Please send happy thoughts and positive vibes our way! A prayer would be greatly appreciated, too! :)
Thanks!
Praying that the transition goes VERY well! (for both of you, lol!) I know how nerve wracking it can be to play the "wait and see" game. Let us know how his day went.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
He was SO excited and happy this morning! His new teacher was so sweet and everyone welcomed him with open arms!
Just called and talked to the office manager and she said she was just in there checking on things and she said that A.J.'s having a good morning! The other children have taken him under their wings and he is doing very well!
Thank you again for your happy thoughts and prayers!
:)

Thank you so much, Guys!
When I got there to pick him up, he ran into my arms and was so excited and said he had a super, super, super, super, dooper good day! LOL! His teacher, Miss Carla, said he did wonderfully, too, and so did everyone else!
When we were in the car, he was going on and on about his day and all he did. I asked him what his new friends names were and he said, "Miss Carla!" :) He really likes her and she is just wonderful!
Anyway...thank you again for all your good wishes and prayers--we really appreciate it!

Just want to say again that I am SO glad things went well. It reinforces to me that I do need to find a new program in the fall for ds. He doesn't ever even mention his teacher's name outside of class. :( He has class tomorrow and he was already asking me tonight if he can skip it. I feel so torn. :(

It usually takes kids a while to adjust to uncertain situations... I remember one little guy I had start in my day care and I think it took him almost 2 months to adjust. He cried almost every morning for almost 20 minutes and after that he was just great and always went home with a big smile on his face. I think it was just a separation thing from his mommy. ;) Good luck... I hope he continues to be happy and do well!!! Sounds like he's off to a good start!

Mick...that is just super news!!!!!!

I agree that kids sometimes take some time to adjust, but in the other class, A.J. had a so-so first few days, then things progressively went downhill from there since November. He cried every morning saying he didn't want to go. He said he didn't like one of his teachers and I ended up being called almost every day to pick him up early because he was misbehaving. He was so unhappy. I'm glad I switched him.

Mickey - Sounds like we have similar situations. Ds has "skipped" his last two days of preschool. This morning tears were just streaming down his face and I couldn't make him go when he's so devastated by it. He has been going long enough that we should be through the worst and he has actually regressed. :( So glad things are going well for A.J.! :)

How heartbreaking, Karla...I know the feeling--Monkeyboy regressed, too! I don't blame you for not being able to take him!

Thanks! I have been trying to convince him that we have to go back. I just feel like he needs some closure on the whole experience, but we'll see how tomorrow morning goes. I don't want him having a negative connotation with school, but on the other hand I don't want him to think the decision is his.
Good news for AJ!! Im glad everything went well!
Poor Karla-still problems with that school? Hopefully next year will be much better for him.
In 2nd grade I had a teacher I didn't like. She just wasn't nice. Than she switched to third grade and she wanted ME again (she knew there wasn't any chemistry and wanted to try it again). UGH! I cried and cried to my Mom and she got me switched to the teacher I wanted and I thrived ever since. So don't be afraid if its not a perfect match between child and teacher. Find one that your kids can feel good about.

Thanks Amy! I am definitely looking into different programs for next year and talking to the director of the current one - again. When I stayed with ds last week I saw the assistant ROLL HER EYES when a little girl was repeating a comment to make her point - like it was so annoying that the little girl didn't just say it once and zip it. Just one of my issues with those teachers. :( They have no patience and seem so annoyed by any comments and questions that come out of the little one's mouths. Very sad. :(
