View Full Version : The dog's at school
Ughhh! I had to bring the dog to school. It was storming this morning and the dog is so afraid of storms. Ds said we could not leave her home alone. Ds also starts the big ACTAP testing today and he would have worried about her all day and done poorly on the test. So, like any good mother who wants her son to do well, I loaded up the dog and brought her with me.
To tie in to the lessons today, I plan to read I'll Teach my Dog 100 Words , let her show the command words she knows, and then let the kids practice spelling words on dog bones.
Think the principal will go for it. I'm working on the premise of it's easier to get forgiveness than ask permission. Wish me well!
ROFL!!! Have you heard of the book "No Dogs Allowed"? It's great! It's about a family that is traveling with their dog, but can't find a place to stay cause "no dogs allowed" so they get some old clothes and dress him up and introduce him as their uncle from France, Monsuier Le Puppe'! LOL

What we mom's won't do for our kids... LOL I hope she (your dog) enjoy's her day in school today. :) Sounds good to me! I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that your ds does well on his tests. :)
Bye...
She did so well today. The kids loved her. I forgot that I had a appointment at a preschool to observe an autistic child being placed in my room next year. Luckily the weather cleared and I ran the dog home. My kids wanted to keep her as the class pet.
Ds had the math portion of his test today. Good news is it's out of the way, bad news is that's what he worried about most. Thinks he did poorly. He's really struggled in math this year. He's maintained a B, but we work on class assignments 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours every night. I'm not pleased with the program or the teacher. He is so confused.

LOL about bringing your dog to school!! :) Hope your ds did well on his test even though he doesn't think so. Dh is a h.s. math teacher. He always says the teacher makes all the difference and I agree. The kids at dh's school request him and he tends to have the biggest class sizes, so I guess he must be helping. Of course there are always some who don't like him, but he does get a lot of positive feedback. Hope your ds hangs in there and gets through the rest of the year.

I'm glad your dog did well and the kids had fun with her being in school today. LOL What kind of a dog is she?
I hope your ds did well on his test today. Every once in a while my dd will say how she thinks she did bad on a test and when she comes home from school the next day it ends up that she did a lot better than she thought she did... so hopefully that's the way it will be for your ds too. My middle dd always had problems in math. She HATED it SO much because she could never quite get it, until one year she got a teacher who actually took the time to SHOW her step by step how to do it. She did great that year but the next year her math teacher wasn't as nice. Teachers certainly do make a difference!
 ... bye.

Some kids at dh's school come to him for help even though he isn't their teacher. I think there is a teacher there who doesn't answer questions and who always tries to make them figure it out on their own. Hello - they are asking him becasue obviously something has them stumped and they can't go any further without a little help! Duh! It's so frustrating to hear stories like that. Drives dh nuts (the teacher), but I'm glad the kids feel comfortable going to dh for help.

I find that most teachers's are pretty good but every once in a while you'll run into those who don't seem to really care. It's their job and that's all it is to them. My youngest dd has had the BEST teachers and we've really been pleased with them. There are a few teacher's in the school that the kids talk about that they don't like/care for but that doesn't necessarily mean that their a BAD teacher... just maybe that their teaching style doesn't quite agree with them. :) Glad to hear that your dh is so well liked by his students... :)
