I just talked to dh. One of the guys he works with just got a call his h.s. age daughter was in a car accident. She and some friends were on their way to pick out prom dresses and someone crossed the center line and hit them head on. One of the girls died at the accident. We don't yet know the condition of our friend's daughter. Too make this even more tragic one of my best friends just called and her daughter was supposed to be in the car and at the last minute my friend had her stay home. sad sad day!! So many lives and dreams shattered!!

Makes me hold my sick little Zach a little tighter!!

Its scary to realize how fragile life is. That is one reason why I have a hard time letting my kids drive with other people besides me and dh.

On Beth. I hate when accidents happen. I am hoping that the girl will be okay.

Thanks for the prayers. The daughter of our friend was airlifted to a Denver hospital yesterday. She has a broken pelvis and internal bleeding. I just talked to dh and they think she will be ok. One girl was airlifted from the site of the accident and I haven't heard about her yet. The 3rd girl will be released from our local hospital hopefully today.

Life is precious. We must always remember that!!

Thanks again dear friends!!

How sad for all involved. I hope that all continues to go well for your friend's dd and that the other girls are going to be ok as well.

How horrible, Beth!

I have been driving along, thinking I'm having a bad day and then I pass an accident on the freeway--makes me thank God for my "bad day".

Saying a prayer for the girls and also for the one who lost her life.

I know this might sound kind of stupid to some of you but every time my dd drives out of our driveway I say a little prayer that God protects and watches over her while she's out driving in her car. It's really scary when you hear stories like this and it sure makes you love/appreciate your children a lot more... I feel for what these parents/children are going through right now. I'm still keeping them all in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us informed as to how everybody is doing. Thanks!!!

I don't think you are silly at all Diane. It won't be that long till ds is driving and I worry about that all the time.

Boy, we don't have much time 'til these boys are driving, do we? Someone actually suggested the other day that I keep my mini van until Chase is old enough to drive and then give it to him. Oh yeah, like I'm going to give my teenage son a VAN!!!!

ROFL! Actually, Donna, we are going to hang on to our suburban for ds to drive..if I could I would have him in a tank!!!! LOL Fortunately around here, alot of the kids are driving hand me down SUV's so it's still "cool", but frankly I don't really care, he's darn lucky to quit anything bigger than a Schwinn!!!!

LOL! Actually I was just thinking what kind of a party-mobile he could turn a van into!

Things are looking up for the girls in the accident. Our friend's dd Amy is doing much better. The brain swelling has gone down, her internal bleeding has stopping, her fracture in her pelvis did not break all the way thru. The other girl in the Denver hospital had some reconstructive surgery on her hand and will come home today. The girl in our local hospital was released. The poor 21 boy who fell asleep at the wheel and caused the accident is on suicide watch. The dear girl who was killed will be laid to rest tomorrow. I feel for that family-the deceased's dad lost his brother to a drunken driver years ago and is very angry about this loss. Please continue to pray for them all.

ps-I really feel for the boy, no drinking/drugs involved he just fell asleep at the wheel. All the kids were wearing seatbelts, so they were all trying to be safe.

How sad. I am glad that things are looking up for some. My bil died when he fell asleep behind the wheel of his car.

How sad. :( Thanks for the update and I will continue to keep them all in my thoughts and prayers. I sure feel for the loss of the girl and for the guy who fell asleep. What a horrible thing to have to live with, but hopefully he has a strong support system to get him through this. I always say things happen for a reason, but this is one of those times where it is difficult to understand/accept why. :(

Thanks for the update. I was thinking of them earlier today. There was a similar accident not far from here, no one killed though. I'll keep these families in my prayers to help them through this time.
