View Full Version : What Is Wrong With People
:( in the past few days here in California, 5 children under the age of 5 have been left in hot cars.....three have died....its just amazing to me, I can't believe this....one woman locked her keys in her car, child was under 2, strapped in car seat...she called AAA...they told her to call 911
A local radio station was asking, what would you do if you saw a child in a car....alone....well...break the window and get them out....no brainer right? you would be surprised....call 911 and wait....hello...that could be too late....so what they have a broken window.....

I probably would call 911 then break the window while I had the police on the phone....so I don't get arrested for Kidnapping or something.
We just saw a man leave his very young child (probably a year old) in the car as he went to go get a cart. Hello!!! Take the kid with you to get the cart.
We've been getting letters to the editor posted in our local paper from people who have come upon children/babies left in locked cars at the grocery store. Most of these people have just stood around the vehicle watching the child, waiting to confront the parents. Some of those people who waited also called the police-- who did NOT respond quickly 8o (took ten minutes) 8o I think I remember one letter from someone who actually got the child out. Of all of them, the parents seemed not at all concerned or contrite-- most parents around here get really irritated at concerned people who "interfere" with their parenting. (or lack of it). Anyway, of all the people who waited instead of getting the child out, all of them stated remorse for waiting, fear at what "might have happened" at their inaction, and pleaded other citizens to please learn from them, and do the right thing.
I'm very confrontational. I would get the child out first, or get help to do so, and then call police (since I don't have a cell phone I would have to go in the store). Then if the parent came back before the police got there, I would ask what the **** he/she was thinking! 8o
I wouldn't get the child out. In fact I wouldn't even touch someone else's child! If they are stupid enough to leave their kid in the car, they are stupid enough to sue you for kidnapping or something like that. Knowing all the stupid lawsuits that people win, they'd probably win it!
I would call the police if I felt a child was in danger. I'd probably wait near the car, but would not touch the car/child unless the police told me to.
On base you can be arrested (for child endangerment) if you leave a child under the age of 6 in a vehicle alone.
When I found the child in the car in the WalMart parking lot last year. I started calling for help, got WalMart security who called the police and another lady and I got the little girl out and held her..gave her some juice ect. The car wasn't even locked and all the windows were rolled down.

Try it with four!! Its a heck of a lot safer for me to leave four children in the car and walk 2-5 spots over to get a cart than it is to run through the parking lot with 4 children under the age of 7. But then I purposely park close to the cart corrals instead of close to the building. Then again I don't get my kids out of the car to pump gas either. Again they are safer in the car than by the gas pump!

I don't get my kids out of the car at the gas station either....why? I can pay at the pump, and they are in my sight....they don't get out of thier belts, I don't leave the keys in my car.....
