Last Tuesday I went for my annual physical a month early, because my ears have been bothering me, and I thought I would get (as the doctor put it) "all those other places looked at too."

Anyway, I have some fluid built up behind the eardrums, so he prescribed Nasocort AQ and Allegra D to relieve the problem. He told me to give it a month to do it's job, and to let him know then if it works or not. I also take Prozac, for PMS, and he increased my dose for me because it wasn't quite doing it for me.

My problem is this: I started the meds yesterday morning, and by afternoon I was totally zinging-- flying higher than a kite!8o Last night I hardly slept, this morning I woke up feeling "all strung out" like I'd had a night of "speeding." This afternoon I finally "came down" and I "crashed" hard. Was sooo tired after not sleeping last night. My appetite has gone out the window, which only enhances that strung out on too much adrenaline feeling. I still feel wierd, but I'm feeling better than I was. I went real light at the gym, didn't even work up a sweat, wanted to go easy after all the adrenaline I'd been pumping out. Have any of you ever had a reaction like this to these medications? I really thought about calling my doctor today, to ask him about it, but decided to wait and see if it would mellow out. If I have trouble sleeping tonight, or am high again tomorrow, I will definitely call him.

Well, I tried to call my dr. Friday, and he is on vacation :( But...I haven't been taking the Allegra D (I'm supposed to take it twice a day) in the evenings, and I sleep A LOT better, and so I feel better during the day-- not quite so "zingy". My appetite is still minimal, oh well. When the doc gets back from vacation I will definitely call him and talk this over with him. Maybe he can give me something else to try at night. It just seems so wierd that I would have this strong of a reaction to something supposedly so safe ?( I never thought of myself as being "sensitive" to medications-- I'm usually not. Anyway, just thought I'd update you.

I had the exact same thing happen to me when I took Allegra. I hear its quite common.

I think you should keep off the allegra until you find out if it is a safe combination
