Must Haves???

For all of you teachers and parents out there, what are must haves in your classroom or your child's classroom? This includes on the walls, on their desks, or in the room in general. I am trying to figure out what else I need to do to my classroom.

reminder: I am teaching 4th grade math and science.

What do you have so far? I teach Kindergarten...so you know how much "stuff" I have. Do you have bulletin boards? Did you check The Mailbox magazine...I think they have a 4th-6th grade edition.

I remember dd's classrooms having big posters with the basic math terms, posters with multiplications charts, the letters of the alphabet in handwriting, NESW direction banners (so they could face a certain direction when singing O Canada in the morning). Always have extra kleenex on hand!
Scrap paper for math work.
Library books.
Charts with meanings of VERB, NOUN, etc.

I'm sure there was more, but that's all I can think of! Ds doesn't start back to school till September, but I scan his classroom when he goes and see what else is up.

things to use a counters

Most of the teachers at our school have a "special treat jar" insentives I guess you would call it. Whenever they had a terrific day or did something really well when the day was over they would get to pick from the treat jar. Mind you they didnt get to pick from it everyday.
