View Full Version : 'puter won't save dial-up settings
This is driving me nuts! I've gone in to Internet Options, clicked Connections then selected "Always dial my default connection". Then I've hit apply and ok. The computer repeatedly changes it back to "Dial whenever a network connection is not present" or something like that. Why the heck won't it save my settings? I don't even have to turn the computer off or log off for it to lose it.
I think it's not saving other things too, like my IB registration information. I can't figure out what I need to do.
Help!
its been awhile but after you select the always dial my default connection look to the right and see if there is a set default button. Click on that and it should set that as your default. See if that helps.
I tried that but after I clicked always dial my default connection the set default button wasn't highlighted. There's only one connection to dial and it says it's set as default. I think it's just one of those things that's going to be a thorn in my side until we break down and buy a new computer! :banghead:
try setting up an additional connection that is identical to the existing one and make it the default...

Could this be another virus because mine computer is having dial up problems, too.
I don't think it's the new worm anyway since we've got Windows 98, but maybe another virus. I'll have to run a scan.
I set up the new connection and set it as default, so hopefully that'll do it.
Thanks, Jeff! :)
