View Full Version : Radio's in kids rooms?
DD has asked for a cd player/radio for Christmas :santa: yes Already....:lol: I am ok with the cd part, but man there is so much (*&#(&$ language on the radio, how do you monitor it? do your kids have radios in their rooms? how do you handle the unappropriate music?

My dd got one for Christmas either last year or the year before. She loves listening to her CD's and at times listens to the radio. She just knows she can only listen to certain radio stations.
Ds wants one this year for Christmas. I'm not exactly sure what type of CD's he's wanting to get though. That's the next thing I need to ask him.

Our kids each have a clock radio with cassette player. Because we are surrounded by trees, they can only pick up 2 different stations...our local country and the fm station opposite the dial setting for our local one. Both are fine by us.

Those morning radio programs really make me angry. I don't understand how they can get away with the language they use. If any of those words were in a song on the radio they'd be bleeped out. I think it's a pitty kids can't listen to top 40 radio on the school bus any more because of those programs. What a rip off! :{
My kids both have CD radios in their rooms. They're not interested in the radio part yet, only in the playing their CDs. In fact I'm not even sure they know they have a radio.
Both kids have had radios in their rooms for a while and now both have CD players. DD is more into music than DS is. If I hear something inappropriate, I just go in and change the channel, just like if it was tv.

I can't remember when my kids didn't have a radio in their rooms... I can't even remember how old they were when they even got them. LOL Way back then though when mine were young... they hardly dared to use words like that... and now they don't seem to care. I guess I'd just encourage her to use the CD part of her radio and if she decides to listen to the radio part of it, you'll have to monitor what she's listening to. Like Ann said... go in there and change it if you hear any inappropriate languate being used. Good luck... :)

So far it hasn't been an issue. Oldest ds has one and he usually just plays his cds or tapes. :)
