I have no idea what to do for her party! Help!! It is the day before mother's day so my side of the family will celebrate it then. Dh's side will celebrate it before the actual day as they are leaving for a month.

I wanted to do something for the neighborhood kids/friends. I though a dress up tea party would be fun, but what about the boys? I can't see 1st grade and kindergarten boys wanting to be at a tea party? There are 7 kids I would invite.

I was stressing over the party theme and activities when Monkeyboy turned three, but to be honest, the kids just had a ball running around and drinking "Blues Clues Punch" (blue kool-aid). I had printed and cut out blue paw prints and was going to have them figure out the clues like on the show, but that never happened. The cake was cute and the plates and cups and napkins all matched, but none of the kids cared to be honest! Also, if the range in age is great, any competition games wouldn't really work anyway.

If she really wants a tea party, I'd let her have one for her and two or three other girls on a different day. For all the kids, I'd just help her choose a theme and buy decorations for it and a cake to go with it.

That's just my two cents, mind you! ;)

How about making it an Alice in Wonderland theme... The Queen of Hearts tea party. Seeing you said it would be a dress up party... the kids could dress up as whoever they want... (Mad Hatter, White rabbit, Alice, etc.) That way the boy's wouldn't feel uncomfortable having a "tea" party. LOL Just a thought!!! Good luck and I hope she has a Happy Birthday and a VERY fun party... :)

Diane had a good idea for the party theme that could work for boys and girls.

We also did Blues Clues for ds's 3rd last year. Like Mickey I also cut out paw prints and hung them throughout the house. I also used blue chalk and made pawprints on the sidewalk leading up to the house. I made treat cups mimicking Shovel and Pail. I also blue punch and blue jello. I had a lot of fun with it, but like others said the kids probably don't notice most of it. :) I did this for the party with family and the adults all loved it! lol! Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.

Reading all of these birthday party posts has made me realize just how much I miss being able to have cute little birthday parties like these for my kids. I'm having fun reading all about your party plans though... Enjoy it while you can... they grow up WAY too fast. LOL
