Hello to all,

I'm not sure if I will get any replies, seeing as this forum hasn't been used for about a month, but thought I'd give it a try. I'm just beginning to write my first lesson plan (soph in college). And it's on Ordinal Numbers.

Right now, I've got a ton of books and ideas running through my head. However, I'm finding it really hard to find "Ordinal Numbers" and such under the number sense math standard. If anyone has any input, ideas - I'd appreciate it greatly. The library isn't the most fun place to me, and I'm quite overwhelemd so Just thought I'd ask!

Dear Katie,

I told my neice to use this resource, She loved it. www.learnnc. org There is a lesson bank there, nc standards have a lighthouse beside the lesson plan name and and a ppirate looking icon is bessdie the national sstandards lesson plan. (My keyboard is ancient and really sticky today so forgive this bad typing.) for a lesson in ordinal numbers I would line the kids up and use thier little bodies to illustrate first , secccond, third etc. Then I would put in them groups and let them line things up different objects on floor or on desk and discuss the postion of the objects. I taught kindergarten 8 years and did these almost daily and I teach first grade now. I still use the kids. You can discuss theeir shoes, ex. "the black shoe is fourth or fifth in the row?" You can use magnets on a whiteboard as well. Hope this is helpfull, Lyra from NC Have been to teacher.net GREAT Place!
