Just wanted to wish everyone a great Thursday!!! HEHHEHEHE. I am usually the first one here anyway. I still get up at 5:00am for my walk and check in here for good morning wishes and prayer requests, and happy thoughts.
Today, I will be a 1st grade teacher. I have been doing this for 4 days now. Substituting is fun. The children and I are having a great time. The disciplining is the hardest part. They love to test the water!!!
To all full time teachers out there - A big pat on the back. This is hard work!!!
I am still trying to figure out a routine to working full time and keeping house. Subing is great though cause I still sneakor get a day off here and there.
Have a great day everyone!!!
Morning. Another gorgeous day, about 55 right now and only up to mid 70's today!! Fall is here!!! ;)
Not been feeling to great lately..chills, itchy/crawly skin, tired...not sure if it's a delayed reaction to the surgery or my hormone levels are off..gonna give my doc a call. DD has theater after school and DS has football..that's pretty much it.
Work today. Sure was cold out this a.m. Only a high of 10 celcius today. Not sure what that is in Farenheit, but it's darn cold, lol. Meeting my girlfriend after work for our b-day dinner. Ds has swimming tonight. Have to find time to get out and vote too (Provincial election).
Morning, no after school activities today :yippee: although I am taking the kids to look at Halloween costumes after work....then home to make dinner.....
weather is weird here, might actually rain here with in the next 12 hours....ds has the sniffles....dd has a bad case of the WHINNEYS....This weekend can't come soon enough
Sunday is my semi anual shopping with my girlfriend/lunch....NO KIDS, NO MEN day...can't wait....
Have a great Thurs all...
can't wait for Survivor and to tape Friends...

Morning all. Off to work right away. Not feeling a whole lot better, but I have things I NEED to get done today. No more meetings with dh, so I can crash after school if need be.
Ended up spending two hours waiting to see a dr. yesterday! She has put me on antibiotics (that make my stomache turn!) for 7 days because she agreed it sounds like bronchitis.
Forcast to be beautiful weather here for the next 4-5 days...up to +20C! Often happens that way after we get a good frost.
Kacee....how nice to see you again!! Was worried about you being gone so long!
Have a great day all....hope you get feeling better Ann!

Kacee - Have a great day being a substitute. I know my dd is a special challenge for substitute teachers. (Not sure why that is, but I don't think I'll ever have to worry about her doing anything a stranger tells her to do.)
Speaking of dd, she was up all Sunday night vomiting. I had to stay home with her on Monday so we both missed class. Just my luck, there was a pop quiz in Anthropology class and I can't make it up so now I have to do an extra credit book report.
Today, I have Chemistry lab and I think I'm prepared after staying up all night to redraw my graphs and prepare my notebooks. (Feel like I need a coffee IV this morning.)
I took my client to the hair dressers yesterday. The lady I work for finally got a portable wheel chair. (Thank goodness! We were both so much safer.) My friend is moving into the apartment next door this weekend and I have a test on Monday. :crazyroll
Hope everyone has a great day! :D
Good Morning! I have 4 dck's today. Two all day and two most of the day. Then TV tonight and more laundry. My dryer is taking forever to dry things. I need to call today to have someone come out and look at it. I don't have the time to wait over 2 hours to dry each load of laundry!
I had a great day yesterday. I had the day off. I was only supposed to have 1 dck but he had a dr appt so his mom took the whole day off. My dh took the day off as well so that we could spend some time together. We went out to breakfast after the kids left for school and then did a little Christmas shopping and a lot of looking for ideas for Christmas gifts. It was so nice spending time alone with my dh w/o the kids! :)

Jen, I had the same problem last year - turned out I had a bird's nest in the dryer vent.
So glad you got some "hubby" time! :*

There was no school today, or tomorrow for us....teacher inservice days. Yuck! Boring meeting today from 8:30-3:00...ugh! Hate sitting that long!!
Tomorrow we have a meeting at our school to learn how to do our new "computerized report card system"...but that is only in the morning. I should have some time to get some things done in my room afterwards. I need to get some Fall decorations hung up...and maybe even a few Halloween things. October will fly by, I'm sure.
Dh is unemployed right now...(we've kind of known that this would happen...just didn't know exactly when). He got a great severance package, so he can take a bit of time to job hunt. It's still kind of "scary"...as my salary wouldn't cover all of our needs (hopefully it won't come to that!!!! But I still worry.). I'm putting it into God's hands...that he'll lead dh into an excellent and challenging position. (Not having to re-locate would also be a HUGE plus...but you never know!:( ). Keep us in your prayers, if you wouldn't mind. In the meantime, I'm finding all sorts of "jobs" around the house for dh to do! ;) :)

Mary, did this just happen this week? I'm sorry. It's good he got a nice severance pkg. but I'd be worried too. I wish him good luck getting another job. Hang in there!

It was finalized last week (the company dh worked for was sold, and the "new owners" already had more than enough employees). We did know that this was coming, and actually thought it would be maybe 6-9 months ago. It was one of those "you never know when" type things...and because of the great severance pkg, dh didn't want to look for a new job until this one ended. Esp. because the job market is so tight right now. Essentially, he was given a year's salary...which if we are careful (and hopefully this won't be an issue!), we can stretch to last even longer. We applied for family insurance at my work last week, so we're covered there. Thanks for the well wishes!!!
Mary, this has happened to dh twice and it's always turned out to be a great thing. I just know it will be for your family too!! This really is a golden opportunity for your dh to look around at all sorts of possibilites and has the time/financial luxury to not rush.

Hang in there, Mary! Hope he finds something great and that things are as stress-free as possible until then. :)

Hope you have less trouble than we've had. It's been a nightmare. Mostly because our tech man is in Irac and less than qualified people have been in charge of installation, training, etc. We're supposed to be able to take files home and work at home, but that has only resulted in losing files. First time I hadn't backed up to the server and all was lost. Second time I faired a little better. Think if I can't work at school, it won't get done cause I'm not taking them home again.
When all the bugs are worked out I think it will be great and much less time consuming, but till then I just have to remember to back up and of course plan on keeping a hard copy in a regular gradebook. So at least this year I'm doing more work.

That's exactly the way we are looking at it! (But it still makes me nervous!! ;)

Actually, this year it isn't affecting me. The report cards are all new...and the Kindergarten report card is being developed/revamped this year. Phewww.....I get a whole year to get used to the new system. The 1st-8th grade teachers are finding it quite time consuming...it's a webgrader (online grade book) and report card system. I'm sure it'll be just fine, once we're all used to it. So at the meeting today, I was just trying to take it all in. No pressure for me....yet!

I guess we're all in the same boat. Ours is called Gradequick. Eventually grades, assignments, etc will be available online for parents to view. We haven't made it that far yet. I know it will be great once we get everything up and running, but I have felt the pressure. We're told 5th week progress reports have to be done on this program and I don't even have it installed on my computer yet much less had time to work with it. I didn't get it until the day reports were to go home. I was just a bit stressed. Thankfully our principal went to bat for us (technically it was kdg. 4th week since we start a week later) and we didn't have to do grades on it. Still had kinks a week later so she said just send the reports we usually send. I thought I'd gotten my math book back. It was up yesterday so I thought management had reinstalled it. I re-entered all my grades yesterday, but then could not save any math grades on the server. So I still have problems.
Don't you just love modern technology. LOL
MaryL, thank goodness you have a year to work with it without the stress. Our former principal probably knew this was coming but never bothered to enlighten us. Our new principal is working feverishly to implement things that should have been worked on for years, so we are all feeling pressure we shouldn't have to if we'd had leadership before.
OK, enough venting on that issue. Nice to know that others can empathize here.

MaryL, didn't mean to disregard this much bigger issue in your life with my posting about Gradequick. I just read about that while at school and responded to it. Will keep your family in my prayers. Like Ann said this could turn out to be a blessing. I know dh lost his job months after we were married and after a tight period he got a great engineering job with the company he's at now. It is a good thing that this was something you were prepared for and your dh can take time explore possibilities without a time pressure. Wishing you all the best.

Kat~ Ours already has a place where parents can go to view the grades, and boy you sure better make sure you get them on there just as soon as you can or the parents call and complain about why there child's grade isn't on there. The beginning of the year the wrong grades for the students were showing up, and we had straight A children with "F's" Needless to say parents weren't to happy about that either. LOL
I think everything is starting to get worked out though now.
Mary~ You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope for nothing but the best for ya'll.
