What are "views"? Is that how many people read the post? So something like 75 people have read the bios but only 2 posted??

You are correct Ann! It counts how many times that thread has been viewed. Although it isn't necessarily unique views. For example, you could go to the thread and reload the page 10 times and it would count that as 10 views.

I think it all works out in the end though.

I REALLY feel stupid here... LOL HOW do you REPLY without quoting another post? I wish their was a simple REPLY button somewhere... I know there must be because everybody else is posting without quotes. LOL I'm not too sure I like this format AT ALL. I like the idea of registration, and a few other things but I feel as if I'm missing SO many posts. I liked being able to come to the Idea Box and see ALL of the posts and know that I've read them all. Is that as confusing to everybody else or it must be my old age... big brain fart! LOL Thanks.

No, Diane, you aren't the only confused one. I agree about not knowing if I have read all of the new posts. I do visit another board that is similar to this one and I like it, but I am still feeling confused here. To reply without quoting I have just hit "Post Reply" at the bottom of the post I want to reply to. Actually seems like you are a step ahead of me as I haven't figured out the quoting thing yet!!

I am sure this will be the first of many questions for me... How do you more than one smiley icon in a post or choose where to put it? Mine always show up before the msg I've posted.

I am just clicked on edit to try things out....

OK..I click on "view new posts" and it took me to 3 topics, I then click on "go to first unread post" so that takes me to where I last read. So then I read those, click back to the other topics and start over. And this is easier? I am way confused.

Also, if I come back several times, it doesn't take me to the last post I just read but the last post I read yesterday....
Also, how do I get more than one graphic or smiley face?

I HAVE no POST REPLY button ANYWHERE! Believe me... I've LOOKED! LOL WHERE is it? Unless I'm blind. I even had dh look for it. LOL I see no Post replies.. The more i'm here the more I don't like it. I think that there are a lot of new good features but I HATE starting out new, especially when there really wasn't anything wrong with the old one. Do I sound like an old foggy? LOL

On mine I see a green area right above and below the blue posting area and to the very right of that section there is an orange "Post reply" icon.... Not sure where your "post reply " icon is! LOL! Thought I would add the colors in to see if that helps - I am feeling quite lost, too! I think this is the only thing I have figured out so far! LOL! Will we ever all catch on?? :)

YIPPIE!!! I now have a post reply button. Before the only button's I had was Open New Thread or Close Thread. Now instead of Close Thread it say's POST REPLY. YES!!! Hey, my first accomplishment! LOL I am still feeling as if I'm missing a lot of posts though. That's the ONE thing I liked about the other board was that everything was in one place... except for the Debate board, and I never felt as if I were missing anything. I'm sure in time we will all do as well here as we did on the other board but it's definitely going to take some time. (for me anyway) LOL Thanks for answering my REPLY question.

I agree, Diane! I liked just having to pull up one page and all the unread posts were there in blue waiting for me! LOL This just seems like too much work.

Actually, it's very similar.

Imagine clicking on 'view new posts' on the new board. It's the same as the 'All by Date' view here.

Instead of seeing all the new messages, you see all the 'topics' that have new messages. Click on the topic and it takes you to all the new messages in that thread.

For example, in the 'All by Date' view, you click on each individual message whether it's in the same thread or not. On the new board, you click on a topic once, and see all the new messages in that thread all at once (and if it's a long thread, it divides the messages into pages).

All in all, it results in less clicks, which makes it easier in my book.

Again, it's only been up for a day and a half and I don't expect anyone to master the new boards in that time. But with a little patience, I think we'll all get it.

Also, to get smilies in your posts, just type in the smilies you normally do. :):):);):)

It's me again!! I have checked in here more today than ever! When I first saw this new format last night it all seemed so *foreign* and somewhat overwhelming, but I have found with each visit today that I learned something new, became a little more comfortable, and have gotten a lot of helpful info from other's posts. Hopefully with time we'll all learn to love it! I am by no means any type of computer whiz and I am starting to feel pretty comfortable, but that's not to say I still won't have a million questions..... :) Hang in there everyone, it does get better!

I'm back...and making another attempt at posting. Not sure if I'm doing this right...so we'll see where this ends up. Wish me luck.

I'm not really quoting you, AnnW, just trying out the feature. Hope this works! (It's kind of trial and error, huh???)
